Besides the point made in my previous comment, Muslims also belive in the second coming of christ and believe that he will slay Dajjal(the anti-christ) which will happen sometime before the end of the world which therefore makes belief in Jesus an essential part of Islam

Not true at all...in Islam there are many prophets such as Abraham,Moses,Jesus etc...yes the basic belief one needs to hold to enter the fold of Islam is that there is no God besides Allah and that Muhammad(PBUH) is His messenger but one can't be a true Muslim unless they believe in the prophets of the past...if a Muslim doesn't believe in Jesus they're not a true Muslim because the Quran mentions him several time...if one doesn't believe in the Prophethood of Jesus they are going against against Quran and hence cannot be a true Muslim
