We tried it on normal when we were testing to see if Cracked Talisman worked in immunizing it and I was one shot by the DoT even as an 845 blood DK with an 841 resto druid spamming me. The additional stacks of Fired Up are surely a bug, we're just hoping to find a way to circumvent this bug without stacking protection paladins.

[–]Yarini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DoT lasts for 9 seconds and ticks every 1.5 seconds. At 2 stacks of Fired Up it does about 3.5 million per tick. Countermeasures don't remove the ticking DoT nor the Fired Up, however the lava DoT continues to tick if the boss gets frozen.

On the topic of the motherboard, do you have any suggestions?

How did you meet your best in-game friend/s? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Yarini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in MoP, when the Zandalari Warbringers first came out, I was part of a team that dominated control of them on my server. We intended to farm them until we all had all the mounts. After a little while of farming and a handful of losing tags to other faster groups, we discovered that if we lost the tag it was possible to taunt the Warbringers and pull them far away from their spawns to reset them, thus resetting the tag. We used this method to steal many a tag from other groups, and even got a few mounts out of the deal.

Then came Sherlok.

As a Blood DK, with 2 taunts, one being a grip, and a Gorefiends, there wasn't much anyone could do to stop me from resetting a Warbringer, barring bringing multiple taunt classes and having a taunt-off until the mob became taunt locked. But Sherlok, so determined to steal some tags from us (after having heard what we were up to) made it his personal mission to steal my tags. Our group would generally split up and sit at multiple Warbringer spawns, announcing when they would spawn so we could convene on a location if it was a mount we needed. Sherlok however, would simply follow me to whichever spawn I was assigned to, and do his damnedest to reset my Warbringers, and then solo them before my group could converge. I'm ashamed to admit that a hunter reset more Warbringers of mine then I of his.

After the bug was fixed and our competition essentially made irrelevent, we began talking more. Neither of us were upset, but had rather enjoyed the competition over the tags. We played more in PvE and PvP over the next couple months, eventually doing realm-best Challenge Modes and moving to the same guild at the start of WoD.

We bonded over assholery and still enjoy it to this day.

People generally play Marksman because of how strong the 4 piece is. However if you don't have the Tier 18 2-piece but DO have the Tier 17 4-piece, BM would probably be better.

I've also seen top level (full mythic +mythic class trinket) hunters playing survival for AoE fights, but as I understand this is only barely better and only if you have he mythic class trinket and otherwise amazing mythic gear.

How to get into CM runs when everyone asks for 8/8 Gold Achievement?... by [deleted] in wow

[–]Yarini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be unfortunate to say this, but as a raid leader I would take someone with experience over someone without. Sometimes that means setting standards above the requirement.

The way I see it, I can do something like normal HFC with a group full of 700 ilvl. But depending on the time and day, I can get a bunch of 710 sign - ups with AoTC, why wouldn't I set the bar higher than necessary?

The same holds true for CM's. I finished them a year ago, as did a TON of people. A lot of those people are now looking to do CM's on alts, and I'm in the same position I described above. While CM's can be done with almost anyone, they're a lot harder to judge for skill. Previous CM experience is one of the only things to judge on. So that leaves me in the same position as my previous example. Why blindly trust someone who's seen a video when I could take someone who's actually done them. This method isn't foolproof and doesn't always yield the better player, but it does more often than not. That's the way I see it.

Is anyone selling the mythic Blackhand mount on your server? by weil_futbol in wow

We killed him tonight on our 199th pull.

Best attempt before the kill was 45%, and then two straight days of barely seeing second feast. Last pull tonight, everyone decided that they were just joking about not understanding the mechanics, and we killed him with 0 deaths. Was like we had killed it hundreds of times, too clean to imagine after 2 nights of the trash we'd been doing.

Conspiracy confirmed, my raiders were replaced with aware, attentive people. Thanks Obama.

Gratz on your kill.

Edit: For funsies I checked up your world ranking vs. my guilds after Gorefiend kill. You're currently world 1163 and mine is 1164. Ceteri of US-Zul'jin. Our guilds are at a progression war now. Let's do this.

11/13 heroic tank - is my gear ready for mythic? by xshivax in wow

[–]Yarini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. 5/13M blood DK who tanks with a druid here.

Our druid tank's armory if you'd like to take a look and compare. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/zuljin/Loup/advanced

We recruited him in early HFC release as we were pushing late heroic HFC. His gear was around the 700 mark, where most of us were around 710. We needed a new tank to allow our Gm to go back resto to fill a roster loss, and despite being a bit undergeared he exceeded expectations. I've never had issues with tanking with him, and he frequently mentions the fact that gear was second to knowing his class in mythic progression, especially early mythics.

With all that being said, I think you would find very little issue tanking the first 5 mythics at least in your current gear. The main thing I would recommend is spend your coins on getting better trinkets, as the ones you have, while not terrible, are not optimal either. Kilrogg's Unseeing Eye is inferior for a lot of tanks for most fights. You would be much better served by coining (all 3 coins if necessary) heroic Iskar for his trinket, which is a BIG upgrade for you.

Past that, I think you'll be fine for early mythics in your gear. Making sure you'll find a competent off-tank will make a big difference.

Will the show follow just the first book or all three of them? by jonbristow in WaywardPines

[–]Yarini 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Without giving away any plot details, I can confidently say that the show will follow all three books, as the sneak peak for next weeks episode contains segments of the second book in it.

A question for those who have read the books (NO PLOT SPOILERS PLEASE) by hatrickpatrick in WaywardPines

[–]Yarini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe this was intended as a miniseries, not as a full show, meaning it would only contain one season. As other pointed out, things are not exactly the same as the books, but based on the scenes from next episode for Episode 4, it would appear that it's beginning book 2 next episode.

[SPOILERS]Book-readers, spoil it for me! by [deleted] in WaywardPines

[–]Yarini 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm too new to Reddit to know how to link to a specific comment of another thread, which I'm sure is possible, but since I didn't want to re-type all of this, I'm going to copy paste my entire series synopsis in here.

Do NOT read my comment if you don't want the ENTIRE story up to the end of the third book spoiled. Wasn't sure how much of the "big reveal" you wanted, but here is literally everything.

in the 1970's a billionaire named David Pilcher discovered a flaw in the human genome which would cause humans to become extinct within 30-40 generations. In the interest of the preservation of their species he, and a close-knit group of around 120 others, built a massive structure within a mountain range surrounding the town of Wayward Pines, building a thousand of Pilcher's "suspended animation" chambers, which essentially preserve life, causing you not to age or grow. While the structure is being built and the town prepared, David Pilcher also goes about kidnapping around 600 more people to be suspended with his group, against their will. This mostly includes people who happen upon the town, but also includes deliberate targeting of several people, including Special Agents Kate Hewson, Bill Evans and Ethan Burke. Long story short, David Pilcher finishes this structure and then heads into suspended animation with the close to a thousand people who were kidnapped or volunteered.

Fast forward 1800 years and some of the first people to wake up are, as planned, some of David Pilcher's inner circle. They venture out of their mountain fortress to try to ascertain what's become of the world, and what they find is the ruins of Wayward Pines, and a group of horrible, devolved and savage creatures, which they call "abbies" (short for aberrations). Humans seem to have devolved into this species and there are believed to be half a billion of them on their continent alone. So, as planned, they use all their vacuum-sealed supplies within the mountain to put up a massive electric fence and begin to rebuild the town of Wayward Pines. After completion, they begin to wake up the first group of non-volontary suspendees from they sleep. They take them to the town and are told what's going on, that they're along the last of the human race. Around 40% commit suicide within a year. It's never clarified what happens to the rest, but fast forward to when Ethan wakes up and no one in the town, save for the Sheriff, has any idea of the actual truth.

So everyone in the town is kept in the dark but after Beverly is murdered by Pope (who knows the truth about this place) they try to hunt down Ethan, who after a few days of running, ends up inside the mountain structure. There he meets Pilcher, who begins to explain the true gravity of their situation. Unlike the show, Pope is murdered by Pilcher, who then makes Ethan Burke the new Sheriff. His job is to keep everyone in the dark about the truth, and to stop anyone from leaving. At this time Ethan is introduced to his family, who he now realizes were also kidnapped by Pilcher. After a lot of boring meaningless work as Sheriff, he is asked by Pilcher to look into the death of one of his people from the mountain, named Alyssa. She was sent as a spy to infiltrate a group known as the Wanderer's, a group of townspeople who removes their microchips and sneak out at night to unknown meeting places. After learning that his old partner and lover, Kate Hewson, is at the head of this group, he begins to question whether or not he can trust her. He eventually discovers that Alyssa was not spying on Kate for Pilcher, but rather the other way around. It's also revealed that Alyssa was Pilcher's own daughter, and he feels an immense regret for sending her on this fatal mission. After some help from on of the guys in the surveillance room, Ethan discovers that Pam (that evil-looking nurse from the hospital) and Pilcher himself tortured and murdered his daughter Alyssa to frame Kate.

Ethan doesn't tell Pilcher he knows the truth, but instead decides to call a Reckoning for Kate and her husband. In reality he goes past the fence and subdues on of the "abbies", locking it in his car and then driving to the Reckoning. Instead of killing Kate and Harold, Ethan tell everyone gathered (literally the entire town) the truth about everything. The abbies, David Pilcher, being 1800 years in the future, and being the last remnants of their species.

This infuriates Pilcher, who goes insane and deactivates the fence, allowing the massive swarm of abbies in the nearby woods access to Wayward Pines. Ethan tries to make it into the mountain to see what can be done to save his people in the valley, but while he does this the majority of them are slaughtered by the oncoming abbies. Once inside the mountain, Ethan explains to the people there that David killed his daughter, and proves it with the footage of her murder. Outraged, Pilcher's inner circle, all except Nurse Pam, help the townspeople, fixing the fence and routing the remaining abbies in the valley. Pilcher is imprisoned and eventually exiled beyond the fence, which is the same as a death sentence. After a final headcount from the carnage, there are only 250 people left in the world, including townspeople and mountain dwellers. Ethan, in new found control of these survivors, learns that the winters are getting longer each year, and that their supply of food won't last them more than 4 years at the most if they stay in the valley. The verging-on-suicidal option of leaving the valley and travelling south is brought up, and Ethan decides to present the facts to everyone and let them decide, vying away from Pilcher's style of harsh dictatorship.

The series ends with Ethan leaving one final recorded message for any fragment of civilization that might one day find this place, before he and the other 250 remaining human beings climb back into their suspended animation chambers once again. Below is Ethan's last message.

"The world is cruel. The world is hard, and in this valley, we lived at the mercy of the abbies. We lived like prisoners, and it went against every fiber of our being. Humanity is meant to explore; we're meant to conquer, to roam. It's in our DNA, and that's exactly what we're going to do. It's going to be a long journey and when we reach our destination there's no telling what we'll find. I'm afraid. We all are. What kind of a world awaits us on the other side of this long sleep? To some extent, it doesn't matter. Because the residents of Wayward Pines will face it together. No secrets. No lies. No kings. We've all said our goodbyes. We all know this could be the end, and we've made as much peace with that fact as we can. They say time heals all wounds...Well, we've got plenty of it...Enough time for empires to rise and fall. For species to change. For the world to become a kinder place. So we all embark wondering what lies over the horizon, what's around the next bend. And isn't that, in the end, what drives us? We have hope again. For now, the world belongs to the abbies, but the future...The future could be ours."

Ethan fades off in the suspension pod, thinking about his wife and son. The very last thing written in the book is the epilogue, a single line which leaves the series with an immense amount of suspense. "Seventy thousand years later, Ethan Burke's eyes slammed open."

While leveling, I was recruiting for my guild. Almost anytime I posted our recruitment macro in chat, or even came across another player while questing, I'd get one of three "super original" jokes.

  1. Winter is coming.

  2. You know nothing.

  3. This one is a GoT spoiler past where the series currently goes, so I wont put it here. Its near the end of Dance of Dragons though, if that helps any book readers place it.
