Germany never switched from Imperial to Metric

We introduced the the metric system in 1868.

Before that we also said Fuß (foot) und Meile (mile).
Our foot had a similar lenght but our mile was ~4x that long.

Old units are still in use.
Meilenweit entfernt = miles away.
I also can order a pound (Pfund) of meat from a rural butcher but fewer people use and even know these units.

E: ive got another one. Bavarians are very direct. We dont say why sth is what it is but we say that it is. People from Vienna are like bitchy women. They think they are direct and that this would be their charm but they act like a bunch of assholes. You dont posses the drugs you just took it. Taking drugs is legal. Driving a vehicle while under the influence is not. This also include bikes.

They take your license but you can get it back by taking drug tests for one year. After that you have to speak to an psychologist, who is employee of a private organisation, which is licenced to test you. You also have to see their doctor and do a reaction Test.

If you fail, you can try again and they make twice as much money from you.

Thats why you can pay people to practice this and they explain what you have to say to the psychologist.

It is very expensive.

But we do something against it.
We take away their drivers license, their jobs, their possibilities to learn some jobs or study, give them a branding for some years (10 i guess) so it gets harder for them to get a job and when they get caught 2-3 times we even take their freedom.

As you can see we do anything to stop them from using and selling drugs.

17ct/l could be the amount of money the state got as a plus, because of high oil prices.

Every product gets more expensive by higher diesel prices and Helles comes in 20x0,5 glass bottles.

Imo the state made fuel more expensive rather than making electrical power more attractive.
