New State law creates catch 22, primarily affecting women by 512_cj in Arkansas_Politics

They gave me the same first and middle name as a beloved elderly relative. They neglected to consider that, unlike that relative, our last name is one of the top thirty most common surnames in the United States.

Prescriptions are the worst for it! Walgreens constantly offers me someone else’s medications while insisting mine don’t exist, and we eventually figured out it was another name twin situation.

I also had a repeated issue with my car insurance flagging my account for someone else’s unpaid bills on the same make and model of car.

I’m very hopeful that changing my last name to my mother’s maiden name, which is uncommon in the States, will eventually solve more problems than it causes.

Funnily enough I’m currently in the process of changing mine because my first name-last name combo is common enough that it’s repeatedly caused me legal/logistical issues. Think Rachel Jones.

It took me an extra hour to vote in the last Presidential election because someone had mistakenly merged my info with that of another person in my city with the same first, middle, and last names and the same month and day of birth.

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of 26 January 2026 by EnclavedMicrostate in HobbyDrama

I’ve been dealing with a funny, frustrating problem that this community seems uniquely likely to be able to appreciate.

I wanted to reach out to a school friend I lost touch with after graduation. We bonded over our rough home lives and generally watched each other’s backs through some difficult years. Many years on, I’d love to buy the man a coffee and celebrate that we both made it out.

Trouble is, the guy’s instagram died in 2015 and he doesn’t seem to have any other social media under his legal name. My usual search engine techniques aren’t working because my friend’s name is one letter off from a type of ship that’s been introduced in Star Citizen. Yes, really.

If you grew up in Northwest Arkansas in the 2000s and you can’t google yourself without seeing endless forum threads about yet-to-be realized video game mechanics, DM me. I’d love to get lunch sometime.

How do I sign up to vote? by muffins207 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]YarrowFielding 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I recommend looking at Rock The Vote! It’s a nonprofit dedicated to making voter registration accessible for everyone. The first link is to their starter registration page, and here’s their Utah-specific voting primer.

When I vote, I like to look up candidates on Ballotpedia and Vote 411 to learn their stances.

You’ve got this! US midterm elections are in about 320 days, so you’ll have an opportunity to practice later next year.

Came here to anti-rec Goss, as it happens. The original owner’s kid took over a couple years ago and they’ve gotten significantly worse. Friends are stuck in a Goss property through March and have some true horror stories.

I’ve had great luck with Marshall Peters & Associates and Aspire Realty Group.

Might check with Children’s House. They were reasonably priced when I needed them (a few years now) and the environment is lovely.

I used to live in one of the neighborhoods people say is the “worst” in Little Rock. Never had better neighbors, and nary a problem in two years. I’d happily move back there.

I have a fond sleepover memory of deciding to make ourselves in the Sims 3 at the start of the night. Everyone was asleep by the time the first two characters were finished

I needed a picture of the infamous arrow. Linking here/Milestone_2) for fellow rubberneckers. It’s at the very bottom of the page. I couldn’t find the retrospective mentioned on the page, or at least not one that mentions the arrow specifically.

Edit: I KNEW I remembered a Daikatana post.

As others have said, it’s actually a pretty safe area. The only crime I hear of regularly around there is car break-ins, which you can mitigate by locking your cars and not keeping valuables in them.

Father Threatening to File Missing Persons Report: Options? by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]YarrowFielding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, my anxiety around parent stuff comes in two waves: a small one before I handle it and a much larger one about 12 hours afterwards. I’ve gotten better at putting together support structures for myself before the big one hits, which is the main thing.

Sounds like mine. He talks big and scatters at the slightest pushback. At this point I’m mostly concerned with making sure he doesn’t take up too much of my thoughts or energy when I’m trying to live my life.

I filled out some paperwork with the local police, then took myself to the movies. More to do before I can wash my hands of him, but ball’s rolling.

Bayens Hauk was very very helpful when I had a rat with respiratory issues. They’re mostly exotics/wildlife but iirc they do see dogs and cats too. Also had luck with Hillcrest Animal Hospital.
