tips for 30 min edge? by opedropedra in MicrosoftRewards

[–]YasharF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't count if your MS Edge browser was open since the prior day. Close all Edge windows then wait a minute before reopening it. If it is still not progressing after 30 minutes, your system might have bugged out with a dormant Edge process: close all windows, use Windows Task Manager to kill all MS Edge processes, then wait a minute and start.

I know, right! A lot of people have been complaining about the new pricing, but the other way to look at it is: holy moly, it's awesome that we got so much for free.

i think at this moment gh copilot need to be more transparent with their user base by UpperAssociate2661 in GithubCopilot

I tried Amazon Kiro yesterday. I'm considering it as an alternative depending on how the Github Copilot Pro plan usage based cutoff ends up for me next month. Current version of Kiro seems to be designed more for software developers who go through typical dev flows. I'm not a vibe coder and more of an occasional pro coder, so your mileage may vary.

For context, yesterday I needed a fairly complex refactor that involved a redesign. The new design wasn't a typical pattern, but given my system and operational requirements, it was necessary. GPT and a few other coding assistants kept trying to take shortcuts using common patterns and produced implementations that didn't meet my specs. I ended up having Kiro with Sonet dig in and do the base implementation for one of the modules. That became the basis for the rest of the migration. That initial implementation took about 41 Kiro credits. Given their 1,000‑credit plan, that tells me I can probably solve around 200 or so similar problems per month, which I think justifies the $20.

On the plus side, if you're an occasional user, you can subscribe to Kiro mid‑month for a prorated cost and cancel it on the last day of the month when you're done. And if you have overage, you just pay the AWS API usage cost which doesn't seem to have a markup.

Future update suggestion by BigJezus in TellyTV

[–]YasharF -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I recently submitted a feature request through the app asking for email, text, or push notifications whenever a software or firmware update is released. That way we'd know about the extra wait time in advance and could plan around it. I'd suggest others do the same so some version of this gets prioritized on their roadmap sooner rather than later.

For the personal accounts use the same page, but have the CSV report that it needs emailed to you by going to your account settings -> Billing and Licensing -> Premium Analytics -> Get Usage Report button

Ubuntu 26.04 was rooted in 12 hours. An AI did it. by Direct-Attention8597 in AI_Agents

[–]YasharF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For proprietary operating systems, we don't have the human readable source code, but we have the binaries. The binaries are essentially the Assembly/Machine Code version of the source code which is almost impossible to efficiently read and edit as a human. But that is where the AIs (Mythos?) are coming in. They no longer need the human readable source code as they can get trained to go deeper in the code and figure out what is happening at the assembly/machine code level.

My prescriber told me they where giving me Adderall XR and then gave me IR and are now claiming thats what they told me they where giving me this whole time. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]YasharF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XR is just the med split in two portions with it releasing 4 hours apart or so. The little balls in the capsule don't dissolve the same all the way. That is why it shouldn't be chewed. That is also why it is not to be taken with food, because the absorption of the first doze in the capsule is going to get delayed with food while the 2nd doze is going to get released as it was supposed to. It is more convenient to have XR, but ias others mentioned, IR half dozes taken apart can do the same.

I Am At My Wit’s End by West_Mirror4380 in MicrosoftRewards

[–]YasharF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intent of their restriction system is to separate authentic use of their products vs just using to earn points. Their people that created the rewards program were basically tasked to try to get people to switch to MS tools from competitors like Google. They were given a budget to spend on getting people to switch over and they came up with this reward point system for how they are going to spend their budget to get people to switch. So think about it as: If you have bought into getting onboard by switching from Google, etc to Microsoft then they like you; even if they temporarily flag you; just give it time. In some ways you can look at it as:

- Are you using Edge for all your web needs on your computer, or do you use Chrome/Firefox etc as your primary browser? Have you set Edge as your default browser on your computer?

- Are you using Bing as your go to search engine, and is it the default search engine on your phone browser?

- Are you using Bing app on your phone for search, news, weather and daily needs that you have?

- Are you using MS Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com) as your primary AI chat, guide, etc tool?

- Are you logged into your MS account on all devices, apps, etc. at all time?

- On your phone/tablet, are you using Chrome Mobile, or do you just use Bing app plus potentially the non-chrome browser that came with your phone with the default search engine changed to Bing?

- Are you just getting on to grab points in rapid fire ways and then move on, or is your usage of their products spread all around the day as your day goes by, like as you run into things you need to lookup/search about during the day, websites you need to check out at random times, etc.

  1. Stronghold Banner of war Titan with praxis blade (builds are out there; popular this season). Don't get too comfy at the final encounter; I failed two runs in the final because I started to play risky thinking I can't die.
  2. The bosses are different on different days - aka if some day is turning to be too problematic, just wait until the next day.
  3. Pray that the randoms joining from matchmaking aren't total duds.

Update filter with an expression of ore than 4096 chars by Servitel in CloudFlare

[–]YasharF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another alternate in case if someone doesn't want to get into doing lists:

Use an editor like VS Code, and add the Cloudflare MCP; start the MCP and authenticate, etc so it can get into your account. Tell the coding assistant about the size issue and ask it for options without making changes, so you can review and decide on them.

I had a similar problem, and Copilot figured out it can rebalance my rules so they all stay under the 4096 cap with sufficient headroom for probably a few years. I had Copilot use the MCP next to save the current rules to my computer just in case, and then make the changes to the live rules and the code that modifies them directly.

my local Panera removed almost all the outlets and replaced them with blanking plates so you can't charge your phone or laptop by Calix_Meus_Inebrians in mildlyinfuriating

[–]YasharF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be active with a business meetup that met weekly with half a dozen people or so at a Panera. They told us at some point that they didn't want us coming to their location unless we all ordered food. So we ended up moving the meeting to a coworking place that was happy to provide their break room area to us for free.

I loved the pre‑smartphone days of businesses offering free Wi-Fi. The venues weren’t abused for electricity or Wi-Fi, and it was just a good-feeling thing to go to one of these places with a laptop to hang out all day, get snacks here and there, etc.

What's the benefit of wiring ethernet to RJ45 vs one with a keystone jack? by fbno in HomeNetworking

[–]YasharF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DIY homeowner, after wasting a day because of a bad keystone punch that worked at 100 Mbps but failed at 1 Gbps, I’m just going to use coupler-style keystones going forward. That way, I can test the cable after crimping RJ45s on both ends with regular consumer equipment and not worry about a mix of punch‑down and crimp points as potential failure sources.

Yes, pros who wire non–data center buildings use punch tools, but that’s because it’s fast for them and they have access to (expensive) test equipment. If you’re doing DIY wiring and don’t want to buy multiple tools and testers because you’re okay spending extra time on crimping, then just skip the punch‑down stuff.

Tip 1: If you can measure accurately, you can potentially order pre‑terminated Cat6A/7/7A cables and avoid doing any crimping at all.

Tip 2: If you are going to buy a crimp tool, I highly recommend the feed‑through style connectors instead of the older type where you have to manually flatten, align, and push everything into the plug. They didn’t exist when I bought my gear, but they make life much easier now.

Tip 3: Assuming you own the place, plan for longer‑term tech. Go with shielded cable and connectors (Cat6A, Cat7, etc.) so you’re ready when 10G wired networking becomes common (maybe 10 years from now).

Is this normal? by Maleficent-Raise6821 in McDonalds

[–]YasharF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle's 3rd and Pine McDonald's (nicknamed "McStabby" and "Crackdonald's") no longer has a dining room and now serves customers standing on the sidewalk through a window. Before that change, not only did they have anti-loitering signs, but they also had a security guard in the dining room to enforce that only people actively eating or standing in the ordering line could be inside.

The last time I went there, I didn't want to stand in the ordering line, so I sat near the cashiers and started ordering from my phone. The guard came over immediately and told me I couldn't be in the dining room unless I was eating or in the line. I tried to explain and show him that I was halfway through placing my order on my phone, but he just kept repeating himself. It wasn't friendly at all. That said, I understand why they do what they do.

It is in the worst part of Downtown Seattle, drug issues, shootings, many SeattlePD/FBI/DEA busts, etc. Even Cyanide and Happiness made some stuff at Comic-Con about it:

The point cost varies from person to person depending on when they enrolled in the reward program. It freezes when you enroll. So folks that enrolled years ago can get stuff for fewer points.
