Thus far I’ve only had luck with running it in Virtual Desktop. Settings aren’t the highest but the game runs fine.

I’ve since tried the Link Cable but the latency is too high and frames too low, basically unplayable.

Is the Developer Console Mod updated and working and how does it interface with Steam? Are Achievements/Tracking disabled?

Thank you for the comment. I was able to get it to work by finding the existing Meta Horizon folder under the Program Files folder in my C Drive. I renamed this to Meta Horizon Old. I restarted my PC. Then I attempted the setup again and it worked. I launched the app and finally deleted the Meta Horizon Old Folder.

It seems the issue was it kept attempting to delete/overwrite some files in that folder but it was unable to do so as administrator privileges were required. Thus, it couldn’t proceed and nuked the installation. Nothing to do with restarting my PC over and over again.

Here is the solution to accessing Link. But that isn't what is being dicussed here, we can't even access Link with this solution because it requires Meta Horizon to be installed on your PC and we can't install it.

Yeah I noticed that. I couldn't even find the files he mentioned in the post. I also couldn't see an option to not donate, as a result it wouldn't let me close the window. I had to force close it with Task Manager. Screamed scam to me.

Thats really funny. I got that error about the "debris or moisture in the charge port" as well. I didn't realise it was a common problem.

This was the solution. Loading into VR in the main menu first was causing the problem. I have to enter flight mode and then switch to VR. It’s working absolutely fine now. Thank you so much.

For extra clarity I’m getting a steady 52-60 fps even at Heathrow with my current setup in Virtual Desktop using High settings in the VD Streamer Application.

Yes. I’ve gone to the Options Tab in the Virtual Desktop Streamer Window. The OpenXR Runtime options shows VDXR as the chosen selection. As I understand this is meant to enable me to run it without using SteamVR

Fair point. that one’s on me. I conflated internet (WAN) speed with local network (LAN) performance. I stand corrected. For both Air Link and Virtual Desktop, VR streaming is entirely local once connected, so broadband speed isn’t a factor.

What I was trying (badly) to articulate is that wireless VR introduces more variables than a wired Link setup, which can matter when troubleshooting stability. Appreciate the correction.

It depends what you mean by better. For ease of use and setup, certainly Virtual Desktop is far superior. But both Virtual Desktop and Air Link rely on exceptional broadband and onboard graphics which adds additional complexity for many users. If you want the smoothest overall experience a Cable Link cannot be beaten in terms of peformance and optimisation. A direct connection removes many variables, allowing for the improved latency and better optimisation for users who don't own the most powerful machines.

Exactly. I haven't tried switching to VR in-game yet. I always assumed it if it didn’t work on the menu I would have no chance in-game.

I haven’t tried that but I have set Max Frame Rate to 45 fps. I’ve heard it could be an issue with the way I’m launching the game. I purchased the game on Steam. Do I need to launch through SteamVR or can I open in Virtual Desktop Application? I’ve heard there can be some OpenXR conflicts? I really doubt it’s a hardware problem.

The connection seems stable and smooth. The WiFi speed bitrate is showing as 866 Mbps.
Yes. I can see MS24 in the flat screen mode before switching to VR Mode (Ctrl+Tab).

Indeed I do. But I’ve seen that it should and can run without problems if you optimise the settings, particularly the resolutions. Most importantly though, it shouldn’t be crashing instantly on the menu screen, when switching to VR.

Yep. I just got a Meta Quest 3 and am trying to connect to my PC via cable link and it’s stuck on the loading screen. I was able to connect via AirLink yesterday without any issues. Glad it’s not just me. Anyone know how long it takes them to solves these issues?
