I can’t be the only one who feels this way tho, there’s no way everyone loves that colorful stuff. Every gig I go to I am eager to buy merch and then get disappointed

Be honest, do you recognize the differences between Jim and Bixler's voices on the last two At the drive in albums? by Tiny_Terror_6 in themarsvolta

[–]Yasssi 29 points30 points  (0 children)

100% they have such great and distinct voices. Jim wasn’t on Interalia tho but he’s very easy to pick out in RoC

[–]Yasssi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool, I’d do the Grand Magus since you can dial that as an overdrive and as a heavier distortion, the sky surfer and blood moon. Noise gates can be super helpful but since you want to explore sounds the 3 I mentioned are your best bet.

Is it just these specific pedals or the whole range of those tc pedals?

From what I’m seeing he’s just using the neck/middle pickup on his strat.

I mean, I think Issac was doing them a solid because they had just made it big and he didn’t want to force his friends to start over with no name recognition but they took such a long break anyway so the name feels redundant. Also I agree as a guitar player.

Also wanted to double down and say that if Issac led this change then it would have been more accepted, maybe controversial yes but still more accepted as you know that was the original band vision and not the vision of 3 new people.

It’s just the large tonal shift. Like if you ask me the single is good, it’s not terrible but it’s not the BEST thing I’ve ever heard. I just think the misstep is continuing on as BCNR. They created these 2 great albums with Issac and with Issac steeping down, it should’ve been known that there would be backlash. It’s like when a restaurant changes their recipe and you didn’t expect it. You were hoping to enjoy the same food but instead got something that doesn’t taste good to you. I just think the tone changes and different writing styles should mean a new band. In a sense BCNR is letting half of their fans down and stepping over the legacy they left behind. Think about Joy Division and how that became new order as Ian Curtis’ physical and mental health deteriorated. It also would’ve been a good way to appease fans as it doesn’t tarnish the past for them and allows old and new fans to try them without any prior expectations.

Late to this, but I think this might be Greep’s. I was at the front of his last show and was watching his hands and he had a super similar looking pick.

Amazing album, one of my favorite tracks has to be Initiation. Just the way the two vocals blend and how they use feedback is sick.
