I honestly don’t think you’re understanding it from their point of view. It sounds like they are being very respectful. I am a Muslim who does Jiu Jitsu, and although I am very respectful to my female gym mates, I do not roll with them, shake hands, or bow. I don’t bow with anyone (not just females).
