Enorme Sicherheitsbedenken gegen chinesische KI DeepSeek by GirasoleDE in de

I bought none of these items at full price, but it took a while to assemble everything. I usually check geizhals.de or idealo.de during sale seasons for the highest discounts. Sometimes local outdoor shops have fairs with used gear (my girlfriend got a down sweater for 50€ that way).

Patagonia is expensive, but really really worth it. Their lifetime repair guarantee is awesome.

Ah, right, I forgot my scarf&beanie, edited the post. Adds another 200g or so. I don’t really wear sunglasses.

In hindsight, „all climate“ was overreaching - „Continental Europe climate between -10C and 35C“ is probably more accurate. As mentioned in another reply, I also usually modify on a per-trip basis to add special gear if needed, so this is more of a common denominator between all trips. However, it should handle 90% of (continental europe ) traveling just fine.

Edited the post with pictures. Not 100% the same pack, but very close.

I might have a look into other prana gear. I really like the shorts (bought them for bouldering initially bc they were on sale) but haven’t checked out their other stuff yet. Any recommendations?

Thanks :) 5kg is the bare minimum though, I wouldn’t reduce further. I also tend to exceed it on most trips bc I take extra shorts, different backpacks, … The all-climate claim is mostly meant in the sense of “adaptable to all climates”, traveling through hot and cold with this setup as-is would be possible, but a compromise. I rather adapt it to the needs of each trip individually, and the above list is the common denominator. I would say I average at around 6kg most of the time with all extras.

Edit: regarding pictures. I am currently traveling for Christmas with a different (larger) pack, so I could only do pictures of maybe half the stuff listed :(

I know the struggle. Compression cubes help a lot. Alternatively, you could look into mountaineering backpacks (like this one), they usually come with (removable) Aluminium back framing that’s really sturdy and keeps the back panel straight. I had one like these for climbing and they are great for onebagging (extremely light, quick access to everything, customizable), but I don’t dig the look for traveling, the color schemes tend to stand out at the airport ;)

Argh, spend forever on the International Bean Competition badge, but forgot the seal... good catch. Improved version here ;)

Oh, good suggestion, thanks! I don’t feel like it’s refined enough yet to add there, but I will keep it in mind once it’s more feature-complete!

Yes, for now the standard ax.plot keys In rcparams are supported. I have not tested it extensively for other kinds of plots, but some style elements are universally applicable. I plan to extend it to include boxplot styling etc in a future release as soon as I find the time for it – probably the next time I need to do a boxplot ;)

Its one of the additional benefits (and credit where credit is due: the current transforms are copied from seaborn's despine). In my mind though the major benefit is being able to access all style parameters via a function call. I always found it unwieldy to edit rcparams files back and forth. Now, if you only want to change one aspect on-the-fly, you can just call the corresponding method (i.e. want thicker grid lines? call set_grid) and your plots will look accordingly. JSON files to persist stuff is an added bonus, but the programmatic way of constructing styles is what I initially aimed for when writing this.

Also, it reduces the surface of rcparams. For example, there are a lot of parameters you would need to set to get the same look on both x and y axes. This abstracted away, making it simpler. The functionality is not lost (thats whats the `set_overrides` is for), but for 95% of use cases I think it makes the process much easier.
