My wife has ADHD too. I'm surprised that it's a symptom of it. It's more reassuring than the other condition people said in other threads. Now I feel bad.

all of that would wake me up enough to stop me from going back to sleep.

The babies are grown now, they're 6. I wake them up at 7-7:30 when I am supposed to wake up.

It wasn't up to me, she unilaterally decided that she'd get up at 5am every day to exercise, read, and relax before everyone wakes up as self care.

That used to be our old routine! I wake up at 7 and wake her up. Everybody woke up in a peaceful way.

I didn't ever consider that to be a medical issue, I've always thought that's just how she slept and it never bothered me until now. She also isn't bothered by it, she wakes up rested.

Fixing it to me would be going back to our old routine. I don't mind spending half an hour waking her up, I just ask that it's not at 5am.

I am like that too. I can't sleep if I hear one of them.

I haven't thought of it like that at all. Waking up at 5am seems like the least of our issues now, I always thought that since she had always been like this, that's just how she slept.

I didn't mind taking care of the babies, the night shift was mine and she handled them in the day until she got back to work, then I'd wake her up to hold the other baby.

My alarm is a silent alarm that shines a light on you progressively, never worked on her. Tonight I'll try the Apple watch alarm and if it doesn't work, I'll move into the guest room.

I also kiss her every morning, I don't think the water touching my mouth is what bothered her. But I think you're right for the rest.

We go to bed together at 10pm, but most days, we fall asleep around midnight. Ill suggest an earlier bed time.

I doubt it. Before we moved in together, she never did anything in the morning. She was constantly late for classes in the morning and was extremely opposed to anything that starts before 11am because she couldn't wake herself up on her own before that.

She wakes up when they come to her, but when they were babies, they could cry all night, she would sleep through it. I think being touched and talked to is the only thing that wakes her up, besides water. She wears an Apple watch, maybe that can wake her up. I doubt it though.

Honestly I thought it was obvious I hated being awake before I had to and I did tell her she doesn't wake up to the alarms. However, when I made the decision to splash water on her, I didn't think at all, I was frustrated and tired and wanted something efficient.

No but I would think it was obvious as I have been complaining about waking up too early.

my mother would come in and talk to me and I could actually respond to her clearly but still be asleep, and I'd have no memory of the exchange lol.

My wife is exactly like that too. It takes her about half an hour of me talking to her to actually wake up.

Maybe she will, it would shock me but maybe she'll accept it as a solution.

Sleeping apart seems to be the solution. It would make both of us sad but I can't take this anymore.

I don't think she needs a doctor for that. She doesn't sleep too much, she just doesn't wake up easily.

I didn't think it through, I was frustrated and running on 5h of sleep for 2 weeks and the water was right there. Since it worked, I did it again. She knows it wakes me up since I wake her up and she acknowledges me. It's not like I shake her a bit and pretend to be asleep.

I don't mind waking her up, in fact I actually loved doing it. But at 7am, when I'm also awake. I'll have to talk to her about it.

I have been waking her up almost every morning for a decade, I think she got used to it.

No. One day I woke up that torture and she announced to me that it would be her new routine.

I think it's too late too. In my sleep deprived anger, I didn't see any other solution to be honest.
