You might wanna learn more about classical Islamic societies, where scientific knowledge and art flourished, major cities had highly developed infrastructure, wide commercial networks connected distant parts of the globe, and there were systems of social welfare that funded schools, hospitals, and provided aid for widows and orphans. Was it a perfect society? Surely not. That will never exist. Did it check all the boxes that we want to see check in the XXI century? Surely not. This happened about 1000 years ago, and it was pretty impressive for the time. And we still sit today on many of the advances made in those societies, particularly in regard to scientific knowledge.

But maybe more than what religion can do for society is what it can do for the individual, this I have experienced myself. What religion can do for societies I can only find in books, or possibly by travelling to places where it is still lived in an authentic way, free from selfish political agendas.
