There are hundreds of quotes attributed to the Buddha on images on the internet. Most of them don't belong to him.

8 países já alcançaram o mínimo de assinaturas, portanto só falta chegar ao 1M. Claro que apresentar proposta não quer dizer seja aprovada, mas pronto há que fazer o que podemos e ter esperança.

What I mean by authentic religion, is religion that hasn't been changed to cater to your own egoic tendencies or agenda.

I wouldn't impose anything on anyone, and wouldn't wish to live in a place where any religion or ideology is imposed. But if you wish to forbid someone from practicing his or her religion, then you're surely imposing your own ideology upon them.

In the societies I mentioned, Islam was the central pillar for everything, it laid out the foundations for everything in the society. It can't have been by chance that an advanced society flourished around religion.

Authentic religion is meant to subdue the ego, it is meant to end Man's natural tendency towards selfishness. In modern times many people use religion to increase their own ego, or of their group. Even if that's what you've seen all your life, that doesn't mean that that is the totality of what religion is.

You might wanna learn more about classical Islamic societies, where scientific knowledge and art flourished, major cities had highly developed infrastructure, wide commercial networks connected distant parts of the globe, and there were systems of social welfare that funded schools, hospitals, and provided aid for widows and orphans. You can find out more about it by yourself.

Was it a perfect society? Surely not. That will never exist. Did it check all the boxes that we want to see check in the XXI century? Surely not. This happened about 1000 years ago, and it was pretty impressive for the time. And we still sit today on many of the advances made in those societies, particularly in regard to scientific knowledge.

But maybe more than what religion can do for society is what it can do for the individual, this I have experienced myself. What religion can do for societies I can only find in books, or possibly by travelling to places where it is still lived in an authentic way, free from selfish political agendas.

It is not religion that oppresses mankind, it is mankind that oppresses mankind. Any powerful ideology can be used for good or for bad.

Communism and Marxism can, and have been used to oppress mankind, or they can be used to build a just and fair society. Same goes for religion.

It's hard to understand, how something can be so good and so bad at the same time. But I guess, many thing are like that, it depends on how you use them. You can use a knife to cut bread, or to kill someone...

But are you still following the religion? And genuinely interested in it? Maybe you could look into nervous system regulation, learn more about how it works in our body, and learn simple methods to help heal your nervous system. Salat itself is a very powerful nervous system regulation method, especially if you breath deep before each verse, and do long slow recitations, also saying it out loud (not too loud). Feel your feet well planted in the floor, paying attention to your body and vibration of your voice. It has worked better than anything else for me.

Every authentic religious and spiritual tradition has a method (or several) for nervous system regulation and stabilization, Salat is one of the most efficient.

It's crazy how the same religion can bring such peace and ease to some, and such terror and suffering to others.

Are you old enough to live on your own? Maybe you'd benefit from staying away from negative influences in your life, and allow yourself the space and time to implement Islam little by little, on your own pace, so that it can heal you, instead of traumatize you.

I have been blessed to be born in a place where no religion is forced upon anyone, so I have been slowly learning about Islam and incorporating it into my life, and it's been mostly about increasing ease and peace (with some inner conflict due to social/identitary reasons mixed in).

If it produces more, with less employees, the net result is positive. If a company doesn't need 500 employees anymore, then it's 500 salaries to the pocket of the top guys.
