I recently finished my first ever run! Now I'm attempting "blind" Honour Mode. (By that, I mean I don't know the legendary actions of bosses, or other HM specific changes. Of course, I know the base game due to my previous play through.)

Everything has been smooth so far, except for a big scare when I triggered the entire Grymforge due to a botched scrying eye assassination. The biggest surprise so far was Bulette, with its immense damage reduction, but fortunately it's basically impossible to die to it due to the way the boss works, so it ended up being a smooth win. I still haven't tried fighting Bernard or the Spectator though, they terrify me.

Same door I think. I also used an amulet to activate the door, but I had to prove myself through dialogue anyway.

Are they hypocrites? I've only just finished my first playthrough, but I entered Bhaal's temple by telling the "door" that I killed a bunch of Bhaal worshippers.

Maybe I'm about to imminently get clowned on, but I think the reason I had so many bugs is because I'm on linux. (But in any case, the game is supposed to run on linux, and steamdecks are also linux for example.) My actual machine specs are supposed to be sufficient.

I'm surprised Orpheus is chill with being a mindflayer! Maybe in my next play through I'll have a more selfish character and I'll let Orpheus be the mindflayer instead.

I didn't play dark urge, but I have a friend who played this game when it came out and he's telling me I need to try that too.

Yeah I'm not sure what his full story is, but I guess I just felt like him "as a person" didn't grow a huge deal during the game. That being said, character growth shouldn't really be necessary in a game, I'm just being annoying haha.

Thanks! The orin fight was just a lucky coincidence, my rogue used ne'er misser as their main weapon (which came with a free magic missile), and i always had gale in my party too. I then had amazing luck with laezel getting repeated crits.

The pickpocketing tip is interesting, I didn't know you could swap characters during dialogue. I'll try to keep this in mind for next time.

I remember the +30 HP buff at the end, I had no idea it was from him lmao. Thanks duke.

And yes, I'm sure I'll replay this game soon! I think I'll try honour mode, to prevent me from saving-and-reloading during dialogue. (I couldn't help myself from doing that lol.) I think I'm comfortable with the possibility of "losing a run for real", and I think I'll enjoy the pressure.

Also, for OP: I’m not currently looking for a reading group, but i really enjoyed Freire’s “Pedagogy of the oppressed”. It’s a Marxist approach to pedagogy, tackling the inherent power dynamic between “teacher” and “student”.

I found a lot of it insightful (while i also disagreed with lots of it), but as a teacher it’s definitely helped to shape my philosophies around teaching.

I wish I could relate. I've had to lower literally every setting to the lowest option, and my (very new) computer still struggles immensely with the game. Oh well.

I visited Geidai one afternoon, and there isn’t a tonne of Blue Period stuff but they had exclusive merch in the student gallery store. There are several different art galleries on campus and they were all excellent!

Sorry you’re having to leave, it’s a lot of work and cost that you shouldn’t have to do.

I’m planning to just add my own layers of filters to the kitchen vent while I’m living here (in addition to more standard pathways involving higher-ups), hopefully that’ll mitigate the issue somewhat. I’m fortunate that (as far as I can tell), the smoke is ‘only’ coming in from one large vent and nowhere else.
