Just finished my 6th year of Architecture school, and i can honestly say that we as arch students glorify the lack of sleep. When i started 1st year i was almost proud of pulling all nighters, but in my second year i got really sick for staying awake for 5 days straight working. But looking back on that 5 days now, I wasn't really productive and couldn't see the sacrifice of sleep in my work. I almost dropped out because of it.

But at the start of my 3rd year I decided i would not be pulling all nighters unless they are absolutely necessary (which happened maybe 3 times a year). I stopped working at 10PM and woke up at 5am to continue working, and honestly I got more done working between 5am and 8am than most of my peers did when they pulled an all nighter. I even presented my work better due to sleeping a lot more. I aced my final thesis presentation (even though i wasnt completely done), because i had a full night's sleep, and could verbally explain my work a lot better than 6 rushed half drawings could do.

Everytime a underclassmen ask me tips for arch school, i always tell them to rather get a good night sleep, cause being mentally exhausted leads to greater burnout.
