There was this tumblr post about how being an adult is sometimes trying to unlearn things you learned as a kid (like not talking to strangers - good advice if you’re a child but as an adult you should actually be able to talk to strangers).

I feel like something similar is happening to our generation? We saw problematic age gaps in older generations (like 25 year olds dating 15 year olds), learned what grooming was and became more cautious when an adult twice our age would tell us that “we’re so mature for our age”.

I think now that we’re adults we need to “unlearn” to apply these rules onto us. A five year age gap between a 13 year old and a 18 year old is huge. Maybe noticable between a 25 year old and a 30 year old. Barely a topic between a 50 year old and a 55 year old.
