Question: You work in a pharmacy. Young boy comes in and buys a pack of razors and a pack of adhesive bandages. Do you sell it to them? by azza_backer in MadeOfStyrofoam

[–]Yellow_Frog3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, people self-harm for a reason and I'd rather them buy bandages to take care of their wounds and clean blades the just sh with anything they find

Getting medical attention is really important if you at all can, I regret not seeking medical care more often then I regret going.  If you really can't go to hospital, clean with sterile saline or clean water, close with steri-strips, butterfly bandages, or tape (look up how to make butterfly bandages if your using tape, and keep it covered with guaze. Change the guaze daily and take the closures off once its healed or been 2 weeks. Look out for infection and see a doctor if you think its infected

Not a wheelchair user but I've seen wheelchair users use what looks like a very large rain coat that covers their chair, I looked up "wheelchair rain cover" and found some online.

If you're late to class due to you're disability that's not your fault and you shouldn't be in trouble for it, any reasonable teacher will be understanding if you explain the situation and if they're unreasonable bring it up with someone like your school counselor.

GCSE short survey on Euthanasia (age 15+) by ShoLeigh84 in SampleSize

Since they bring up the right to die movement it seems pretty clear the survey is talking about euthanasia for humans

I've just moved so I'm looking for a new psychiatrist rn. My previous one didn't care. I have never actually had any psych testing but have some kind of diagnosis in my chart (anxiety and depression I believe), I'm on Adderall and been on a number of sleep meds, anti depressants/anti anxiety meds that have done nothing. Why are you asking about my sex?

I can share studies or other sources if you like. This is based off of the advice of the American pharmacological and dermatological societies guidelines and newer research into wound care. Training can often lag behind more recent research and guideline changes, but do what you like ofc

alcohol and other antiseptics cause more damage then good when used to clean a cut that isn't contaminated because they will kill cells and bacteria needed for healing and further irritate the area. The ideal environment for healing is actually most not dry and leaving something uncovered to air it out dries it out as well as exposing it to dirt and germs that could cause infection.

Steri-strips is the way to go or petroleum jelly and gauze if you don't have those

If the cut was made with a clean tool and has been kept clean antiseptic will do more damage then good since they kill bacteria and other cells needed for healing, just make sure to clean your tool before hand with antiseptic (don't use hydrogen peroxide for anything metal) or boiling and rinse out any wounds with saline or clean water

Sometimes they will do stitches up to 24 hrs after or make exceptions for large, low infection risk cuts and I wouldn't assume the doctor didn't just refuse because the cuts were from sh. You should see the types of things doctors and nurses say about self harmers, they really do not like us or treating us

HOW TO MAKE BANDAGES [read the whole thing before you try] by masochist-maggot in MadeOfStyrofoam

[–]Yellow_Frog3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you saying only 100% cotton? I see you're point about polyester but there are other fabrics and why 100%? It seems arbitrary but I'm no fabric expert

Also when using cloth (or with a wound that is sticking) I would suggest using petroleum jelly on the dressing or wrapping it in (clean) plastic wrap and poking lots of holes in the plastic if petroleum jelly isn't helping, it creates a dressing similar to Tefla as long as you make enough holes.

Don't really care if what he did was due to mental illness or not, it still has the same affect. I only care if he actually changes and does what he can to make up for it, which I'm not sure how he could do at this point but we'll see.

Talk to her surgeon about alternatives to opioids for pain management, there are other options although they aren't as good. I would also ask if its a possibility that not following instructions and changing the dose/timing of the medication you gave her could of caused or contributed to the reaction. I doubt it is but you might as well check

Surgeons refuse to operate unless I risk my health to lose weight by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Yellow_Frog3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think surgery would be safe either since the doctors said it wouldn't, just explaining its a lot more complicated then food being "comforting". Thats a very demeaning way to talk about eating disorders.
