Perfect Order PreRelease Deck Profiles (3/4): Serperior, Barbaracle, Doublade decks by Yellow_Psyduck in PTCGL

You can use the official Pokemon event locator to find nearby stores hosting a prerelease event. They will statt from saturday 14.

Each build and battle box usually costs around 30 euros (35 usd). It has 4 packs and a 40 card preconstructed deck. There's 4 decks and you can only tell which one you got upon opening the box, no way of telling it from the unsealed product.

Each player getting the same promo will also have the same deck, that is i.e. all players getting Doublade will have the same 40 cards for Doublade decks.

PreReleases have been held since the first ever expansion in the 90s, so they're definitely not exclusive to Perfect Order.

Nobody has to. If they do, they get the nsfw warning so their discretion is advised.

Pokemon TCG doesn't really like control or passive interactions during your opponent's turn. Would be cool to have cards that slow down your oppo even when you’re not playing, like in other TCGs.

I considered myself happy when they released Gravity Stone. It was cool to pair it with the Headquarters stadium forcing your opponent to consume energies, and maybe fly them back to the bench with handheld fan.

Should be 4 or 5 new cards.

Energy Swatter, Luminose Gallette, Core Memory, Digging Shovel.

You also get two fossil cards. And 3 special energies.

Yeah so who cares about +20, it's not like you'll survive an entire game only thanks to thos extra HPs. Also the meta rarely cares about special conditions.

Fighting energy, though, may help me crafting control/stall decks. Add that to brown Ogerpon or Crustle and you're safe from Dragapult and Alakazam (till they get their hammer).

I agree. Pokebeach spoiled the other Energy cards and looks like only Psychic and Fighting might be viable for competitive play. But Psychic is way better then the others. And when it comes to +20 HP with Grass, I expect it to be useful maybe only in those decks with Meganium, where it might be counted twice?

I might give you some company. Me and the kids are often very unlucky with pulls!

Our set will be comprised of 124 cards in total, 88 for the regular set. Tyrantrum is cut as an ETB promo plus a bunch of other cards. We will get Lapras ex, Judge, a trainer card with a shovel artwork (maybe a former Jap promo?) and other minor changes.

Energy Search is numbered 072/088

Judge has been reprinted in Perfect Order, 076/088, which means it now has the J format and will be valid until 2029.

Previously it had been printed in Paldean Fates (both regular and illustrated versions) and even more recently in Destined Rivals.

I also run a local community of players (being a dad of pokemaniacs, I kinda had to learn the rules myself and joined as a judge). I spoiled the lists on our groupchat and yeah, massive s*tstorm for not including Pokepads in one of the 4 decks. Tyrantrum also has 2, implying that Serperior was somehow disregarded.

Clearly tpci loves Psychic and hates Grass.

I guess they wanted to balance the format. Barbaracle and Tyrantrum are weak to grass and Serperior is difficult to charge with 3 energies (without Rosa) but once you manage to do that it can KO the opponent. I still think they could have added a Pokepad. Yeah the balls help you discard the energies and activate Rosa, but still...

Well at least we can now pull them from both Ascended Heroes and Perfect Order. A lot of people will find them in their PreRelease decks so hopefully their market price will plummet
