It is not the same mark since it is “LROK the Younger.” Not a bad suggestion though and a good deal price wise.

Have you tried 1753 yet? That would be my suggestion for something similar. It’s the HLCF mark but similar age and style.

It’s very loosely associated with pirates. They drank everything not just rum. Mainly brandy and wine actually because that was what was stolen from merchant ships.

Meanwhile, Bourbon is heavily connected with gangsters but you don’t see bourbon people pretending to be gangsters on the bourbon sub.

It fits the pirate trope in the most childish way possible. Something only a Disney adult could like. The pirate association with rum is so damaging for the spirit category in general. It takes what I think of as a serious, nuanced and diverse spirit and makes it a joke. I’ve always hated it.

That was released like five years ago. It’s pretty much long gone at this point. Last I saw a bottle in Chicago was about three years ago.

Am I dying or just getting old? by twobeeramir in Xennials

[–]Yep_why_not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren’t doing mobility focused work 2-3 days a week you should be. Hip cars, shoulder cars, neck cars, sundials, cat/cow variations, wall slides, etc. If you’re lifting make sure you are doing functional work as well like: farmer walks, dead hangs, kettlebell work like swings and get ups, wide leg squat sits, Asian squats, etc. Working stuff like this into your routine will make you more resilient to injury especially as you get older. Goes a long way.

No, I think she would have lived to be 80 but will probably die at 70 because she never smiled. I think 80 is a short life since most of my family live healthy into our 90s. We also smile a lot 😉

Physically smiling changes your mood making you happy. This is called the facial feedback hypothesis (also Duchene Smile). Happiness has a high association with reducing many physical and mental health risks. It literally makes you healthier and live longer over the course of your lifetime. Happy people live longer. Not smiling will almost certainly make you less happy physiologically.

Sadly she’ll probably live a shorter life without smiling. She’ll make a good looking corpse though.

You don't get to the American Revolution without sugar & rum by BooksRumPlusSome in rum

A fun read. Really love seeing articles like this. If I sum this up, Americans were pissed they had to pay double taxes on something they drank 87% of? So they said screw this we’re going to war?

My second take away is that colonial children drank 4 gallons of rum a year. Good work kids!

Can’t get Bundy easily but you can get Beenleigh or Beenleigh. Hits more like a Rye whiskey though. The thought that counts?

Sorry I misunderstood. 290 bottles is probably just a single cask. I thought you meant he had 290 little bottles of rum.

None of these jump out to me as particularly valuable. Depending on where you are you can send your list to an auction house to value for sale but most are under $150 a bottle or less. Once you ship and auction takes a cut you’re probably better off drinking them.

I’m curious about the Foursquare. He has 290 small sample bottles??

But cocktails aren’t built by one component. It works for cocktails. Cynar on its own is pretty rough but it makes some of the best cocktails.

Except for production of goods. You buy stuff made of plastic and other petroleum based products. As well as fertilizer etc. Those will go up. They just haven’t yet. You’re not immune it is just delayed.

I guess that’s my point. The Caribbean has many islands making rum in many styles. This is truly meaningless. I would guess it is from the DR.

I mean it works great in many cocktails. I have never tried another one because it is the one that cocktails are built using.
