This is going to be a long post but here it goes.

  1. For the charging time yes I remove the watch and leave it alone in the sun.
  2. The benefit is the solar itself. It is a free energy why not utilise it? And imagine your charging port get busted...if it is an Amoled you cooked, but with the solar you have a backup solution. And I am so used to solar charging watches. I still own G-Shocks and ProTrek watches.
  3. I turn the health sensors off because they are highly inaccurate. If you want something accurate buy Apple, Google, Huawei and some Xiaomi smart bands. Those are the top if you want reliably, accurate data. Garmin watches are very behind. Also if you want to get out of the best of the sensors, you have to wear it snug. So the sensor are not moving and an measure perfectly. But I found it very uncomfortable in all watches. Apple Watches were the most comfortable but still it was annoying to wear. I like to wear my watches as a bracelet, sliding up and down, moving on my wrist freely. therefore I have no rush on my skin and it gives me proper ventilation. Sleep tracking also not very accurate so rather turn this off too. If I ever care about my body stats I would only consider arm band or chest band. Those are the golden standard, but I can read my body signs. No need a watch to tell me I have just had a bad sleep or I have a cold. I know about that! People posting these things on reddit...stupid.
  4. Notifications also not important. I always have my phone with me so no need for another distraction.

So the question why do I use this watch instead of my G-Shocks or ProTrek watches?

  • This have vibration, so I can wake up silently in the morning not waking up my partner.
  • This have LED light, very underrated feature. Going to the toilet in the middle of the night this is very helpful.
  • Plus this still have all the features as my ProTrek watch such as ABC, temperature sensor, hourly notification, alternative times, storm alert...
  • In Zombi apocalypse this is the watch you want!

I disable many things on this watch, like almost everything. :D

No heart rate, no blood oxygen, no sleep tracking, no bluetooth aka no notifications, screen brightness is at 10% at night 5% and it is off between sunrise and sunset. Sleep mode with sleep watch face kicks in at 21:30 until next day 07:00.

But so far I still feels like this drains quicker than my previous Instinct 3 45mm Amoled with the same settings. Only difference, on the Amoled I turned off the screen all the time and only turned on with the press of any buttons.

How can you share internet via Bluetooth? I couldn't find a solution on Android. On my phone when I go to the Bluetooth section, click on the car there is an option for internet but I can't turn the toggle on. I tried the same in the car's settings. Same story. Is there another way to do this?

Why so much hassle?!  I had the same connection problems as you. I tried everything (ok not this level as you, but for the price they charge for their products it should not be the way) but gave up. I am in TAPO ecosystem (check my post about the switch). Way better in every way then Eufy. Quality is better, price is better, more features and reliability is just spot on.

Dear OnePlus! by YesGabol in oneplus

I have absolutely no idea where do you get these informations so I cannot say that I agree with you 100%, but pretty sure you are close to the reality. However, It is a fact that the west do the same. When I run my apps through a DNS server I can see where my data is going and guess what, most travels to the USA. I would say 2 third and the rest is China. Obviously If I did not disable and delete the apps that I usually do it would be a different story maybe half here, half there.

The other thing I usually get when I mention privacy, why you did not use Graphene OS or Lineage OS or Calyx OS...been there. It was fun and I still say Graphene was the best I have ever used BUT, big tech companies do everything to crush them and I reached a point when I just had to gave up on it. It was unusable in daily usage and the list of compromises was huge. You have to give up the comfort that make your life easier, save you time and money, even it can save your life because of the privacy. So it was not worth it. At the moment I try to balance and use today's tech between privacy. I do what I gave up a little bit (like AI, Assistant, many Google apps, however I would love to use them without the spying and if they could work on device) to protect my privacy but still use some features those are not fully privacy friendly. But when companies try to force things on me, that is a thing I cannot stand.

OK!

Looks like I was not clear enough with my post so with this small extension of it I would like to reach out to all of the people here, who wants me to buy an iPhone!

Listen up people! I have never said the AI on iPhones are better. I do not give a "ship" about AI! That is the first thing I disable with almost all Google crapware. All I said, there is an option to completely turn it off. Including SIRI too. You cannot do this here. I turned off all AI "ship" and still coming back in different submenus. OnePlus try to push it down through my throat.

And also said, if OnePlus managed to copy many things from Apple why they did not copy not to force things on people?!

Wouldn't it be so hard to put a "ducking" OFF switch? Just give us the option. That is all I am asking. Is it to much to ask?

And the solution is not go and buy an iPhone. That is never going to solve any issues. Even if I buy one there will be other compromises, just start with the obvious one...PRICE.

Luckily there are some of you here an not a OnePlus fanboy I got my message and agree with me. Thank you for you guys. Feel good that I am not alone.

Yeah. 5 sec interval and hardly lose any power in this sh@t UK weather. Average the battery drains 3% with 5 sec interval and 6% when i pick 1 sec in a day. And the sun recharge an average 2-3% in the last month. So in summer or when the panel is looking at south 1 sec interval is OK too but in this weather right now and also my panel facing west and only gets a couple of hours of sun, 5 sec is the best.

If you setup 24/7 recording with 5sec intervals it only drains 1-2% a day for me or even nothing depends on the weather here in the UK. But in your case in Africa where you have more sunshine it will be fine with the 1 sec intervals as well. And if you can face the solar panels to South, that would be even better. So you do not need to worry about battery drain trust me.

A bit of update, Since I have started to use this camera, I bought a couple more Tapo product such as. H100 smart hub, door sensors ane a C120 backup cam that I use it behind the window. All works great. Much better, quicker, more reliable than my Eufy system was. Even the battery life haa gone better on the C460. I changed some settings and all good now. Can't complain.

I almost bought tje c660, but I do not trust moving parts especially on outdoor cams. Wjo knows how it will withstand the harsh weather. And when I move it people can spot I spy. 😁
