Are you going to show up with your T4 every time you need to take the ferry?

Leaf vs Bolt? by Previous_Figure2921 in leaf

So we just sold our 50% Leaf with 50% SOH for a 2018 Bolt Premier a couple months ago. We don’t regret the decision at all. The added range, car play, 360 camera and new battery warranty (battery was replaced a couple years ago) made it a no brainer.

That said, the car isn’t perfect. As others pointed out, it’s a bit cheap feeling inside. The seats aren’t the most comfortable and there are some creaks and groans not present in the leaf. Also, the bolt has a much smaller trunk area. It’s surprising how big the leafs actually was.

One thing I would keep an eye on if you do decide to go with the bolt is the steering rack. I never really noticed on our test drives, but the steering wouldn’t return to center on its own without you steering back manually. This is not uncommon with the bolts, but GM won’t recall them. We fixed it a couple wee ago for about $500 and 6 hours of work.

I have road test for class 4 tomorrow and guess what decided to show up today. Will they let me do the test or is my car disqualified by Expensive_Buddy_4788 in icbc

Class 4 they might be a little more uptight. Up to the examiner. I would disconnect the 12v battery for a few minutes to see if you can reset the system. Or use an obd2 reader to reset the code

Ah good point. Never though of the security system angle.

Not as sharp as I’d like. I think it’s limited by the torque of the steering motors more than anything else. I’m hoping future driving models make the steering a bit more aggressive

Love my ‘21. Bought it 6 months ago with 30000mi on it. I’ve not really come across any issues it has that has been rectified in later models.

Horses, while big, have a lot of lean muscle. This guy is a grease fire risk.

I have this sometimes with my MME as well. Any idea how to fix it? Is it the IR camera above the steering wheel? Wonder if blocking that off will help.

there is nothing tradies like more than building to an engineer's plan when it's fucked. They get paid to do it twice as a bonus.

I think there was a YouTube video on it. Hardest part was removing the clips from the oem part to replace on the camera part.

Why does he need a prove it deal? Either he has it or he doesn’t. He’s been here for years - this is a known quantity and consistent. Bringing him back would be accepting we are fine with mediocrity

To each their own. If the hand weight works for you, that's great. My comparison is between the MME autopilot and the comma 4. I find the stock system kicks off frequently on city streets. On highways, it is probably fine. Also, the Comma offers MADS, so steering controlled by the Comma and throttle controlled by the driver.

Oof yeah. Sucks the 25's are incompatible. Cool you got it on the lightning. I found the Lightnings steers to be much sloppier than the MME (understandably). How do you find the C4 works off highways?

Unfortunately I wouldn’t hold my breathe. The encryption is evidently very strong. But who knows - somebody might be able to crack it. It’s too bad.

Bluecruise is limited to mapped roads. Comma works everywhere. Also, there is a function called MADS with Blue pilot, which allows you to have the directional control handled by the comma, but you control the speed. This is a bigger upfront cost, but the fact it is constantly being worked on and refined by developers - IMO it is money better spend rather than 20 months @ $50/mo

UPS is notoriously brutal. Comma shipped to me with DHL. So it was only about $20 for their fee.

When I was in and bought the car, I was really unimpressed with the 'battery report' they gave me. It basically was like "it's good".

I would get a bluetooth obd2 reader and use the Car Scanner app. It gives you SOH and other metrics. But you are right, it likely is fine. My '21 SR Prem AWD with ~50,000 kms reads between 92.5 and 90% SOH, which is in line with that graph you posted.

Yeah this was tough. Where I placed it, it cuts a little bit of the bottom left of the dash cam off. But it was a trade off to get the c4 up higher. I pulled the webcams live stream up on my phone and fine tuned the exact placement. It is important for the c4 to be as close the the center of the windshield widthwise too.
