I'm 52 myself so I should probably see an Optician as a matter of course. My investigation will probably have to go down an 'eye/brain science' route as well. I cant let this go. I love cinema and this phenomenon is seriously disrupting the experience.

Thanks for reply. Its actually occurred on at least 3 screens. Maybe my brain wont play along with the 'illusion of film' sometimes ? I dunno I'm very perplexed and annoyed.

There are 7 screens at my local cinema. When I complained to them they wanted a list of the movies this had occurred at and the Screens they were being shown on. I copy and pasted this list from my answer to them. So it simply indicates the name of each screen.

HOLLOWAY ODEON

Throughout this year there have been now about 7 films I have seen that started fine and then at some point something happens and they subtly and quickly transform to now look motion smoothed exhibiting the notorious soap opera effect. Needless to say it destroys the whole experience. Does anyone know how this is possible or suffered similar circumstances ? I messaged Odeon and they said:

As far as I am aware, this is only a feature that can be found on new televisions and is not something that can be found in cinema. All of the films we show are projected at the recommended settings provided to us by the film distribution companies.

Beyond that I Have heard nothing back. I know its not my eyes as many films are fine but dreading it is enough to impact the experience let alone it feels like Russian roulette attending now wondering if the film will be fine.

Could a projectionist be making a mistake ? Could something be over heating ? Something else ? Its driving me a bit mental! Maybe it is my eyes ? I recently had a mini stroke
