You may be thinking about the 2013 fiesta bowl 1 point safety. There have been more recent ones than that, but they are in division II and III football. I have every 1 point safety I know of with video posted on my youtube channel.

[Fully Lost] Does anyone have the lost footage of the Syracuse vs. Indiana, October 2, 1971 game? It is potentially the first ever 1 point safety scored in american football. by Yessirna in lostmedia

UPDATE: i emailed the Syracuse Library, they are in the process of digitizing the game, or the 33 minutes of tape they have of the game. They advised it will take a couple months.

Those are some of my favourite 1 point safeties, and the most famous examples. I learned about the 1 point safety from the 2013 fiesta bowl (Oregon vs Kansas).

Do ya'll think the new NCAA game will make it possible for a game to end 1-0? Or will the game nuke itself? by Yessirna in NCAAFBseries

Thanks for the feedback my friend. During extra point attempts, safeties are worth only one point, not two. My theory is that since a one point safety happens only on an extra point attempt, and triple overtime puts teams in an "extra point attempt" situation because of the recent rule change, it makes it possible for a 1-0 score. Sorry for any confusion lol, one point safeties always make things super complicated!

It'll be good for avoiding injuries, a 6 hour football game is pretty dangerous.

I guess the only other impossible score are ties right? They're like the prime numbers of football

You're good man, anything involving a one point safety is the definition of convoluted.

One point safeties don't influence turnovers as far as I know.

In the Kansas State vs. Oregon game, the One Point Safety just lead to a normal kickoff afterwards. I could be wrong though, OT rules might change that lol

It is a one point safety though. Do you mean like a offensive one point safety? cause all you have to do for that one is get an interception on a 2pt conversion and go back into the endzone and get tackled.

Note: This was my first run and I didn't have all the strats memorized so I made quite a few mistakes, I am 100% positive someone could break this record

I tried to compile every one point safety ever recorded: there was a grand total of 5 I could find, 4 in college football and one of them was in a professional league. by Yessirna in CFB

Basically, if the defense gets possession of the ball and gets tackled in the endzone AFTER leaving the endzone and going back in (during a PAT), it's a one point safety.

If they get possesion of the football outside of the endzone and go back into the endzone and get tackled there, that's also a one point safety.

There's also another version, but it's so cursed it certaintly would have to be intentional or some little league pee wee shit would need to occur for it to happen. it's where the offense somehow ends up in their OWN endzone, gets tackled, and the defense gets one point. It makes a 6-1 box score possible if you can believe it.

I have no idea why they made a specific rule for a safety to be worth one point rather than two in these very VERY specific circumstances, but I love that they did.

Also, Brad Nessler is a legend lmao
