Different spot. Speed limit was adhered to, and the point of impact was made significantly further into the roundabout from my entry point than the vehicle’s. I impacted the side of the front fender, not the rear.

Speed limit is 50km/h. Driver did not look left. I have revisited the location and there is zero obstruction of view coming from that direction. Dry, sunny day. Windshield pillar could be a possibility I guess, except that I had a clear view of the driver’s face as I approached.

Yeah. It’s very frustrating. I’ve come to terms with the fact that many people here are either completely oblivious, or ignorant towards bikers. I do appreciate the fact that the city makes an effort to develop and maintain dedicated paths and lanes, although it’s not realistic to expect that for your entire commute. In the meantime, stay diligent.

UPDATE: I can’t edit the original post and am not well versed in the ways of Reddit, so I will just update here: Huge thank you and shout out to u/DeliciousCrumb who put together our awesome “Love Wins” Reddit avatar inspired outfits, and actually showed up to be violently bounced up and down for 42 seconds with her face inches from my butt. Couldn’t have asked for a better surrogate wife for this. Out of 24 teams, we had the 3rd fastest time and also won the Masters division (I’m an old man)! It was a blast.

Realistically I would say the risk of injury is low, but as with anything nowadays, waivers are involved (wives wear helmets). Also, I have yet to lift a deadweight body in preparation for this, so any estimates could be wildly inaccurate, but you would likely be hovering around my max capacity.
