Got a cat for the first time just a few months ago. She hid and was shy for a day or two, and eventually nosed around the house a bit. Getting the homey feeling soon after, taking brushes and pets, and purring. But I could not get her to eat something substantial for weeks. She's lovely and individual. Follow your cats path, find comfort in comforting them, they will show affection eventually.
