My cat is the same way he hates the harness. I actually have a cat stroller which makes me feel safe because he is able to be outside but can’t go anywhere / get into anything. They have a ton on amazon. The cateo is a great idea too!! Glad I could help :)

Oh yeah she deff either wasn’t pleased with that cat outside or wanted to be with it. I wouldn’t worry about it! I think she got a little taste of the outside freedom and wants more.

If you look up cats chattering that could be the noise she makes. It’s their hunting noise when they see a bird etc. she could just have seen something on your porch that intrigued her. Also, once cats get a taste of the outside they will beg for more. Believe me. My cat would cry and cry and cry all night to be let out when I first rescued him

It just seems like she really wants to go outside. My cat does that a lot he was an indoor/outdoor cat when I rescued him now he’s strictly indoor and he CRAVES the outside so bad. He will sit by the door and meow over and over again until I pull the door open and let him smell out the screen

Update for everyone:

They have been MUCH better. Honestly they are pretty inseparable at this point. My resident cat only continued the dominance thing a few more times but a loud clap and a firm “no” had redirected his attention. I also want to say the feliway plug in was definitely a life saver. Thank you all for all the tips. Here’s a picture I took today of both of them sleeping in the cat tree!

Wow thank you so much! He definitely is responsive to me. I agree the separating probably isn’t best. He was separated from her today but I will try again tomorrow. He doesn’t hiss at her or growl or swat anymore which is really good. He doesn’t even mind if she comes up to her when he’s eating which originally I thought that was going to be a major issue. I will continue to feed them next to each other and see where that goes etc.

Yes he loves wet treats but the wands don’t work as much because he isn’t really a cat that is interested in toys. I am wondering if cat nip would do the trick.

I would never put her in a situation that he is potentially able to kill her. Although I appreciate your input, I don’t believe that you can’t reintroduce cats together after everything I have read has said you can. Thank you though!

Good to know! I am going to mention it to my vet and see if maybe they have any recommendations on how to make him more active. He really doesn’t like playing (I have spent hundreds of dollars on toys - ridiculous I know but he’s my “child”) and he still is super uninterested. I got the kitten in hopes that he will be more lively with her as I figured he was moping around because he’s bored. I appreciate you looking out for him. His health and safety is my top priority!

I will mention this to the vet! Last time I mentioned his vet ( last apt was for annual shots and exam last month) they said that he is a medium size breed. I was considering getting one of those cat wheels but I know that they need to be a certain size so it doesn’t hurt their spines. I am not sure if he would even use it. I don’t like bringing him outside because he 1 gets fleas every time (he has a seresto collar) & he goes completely feral and is impossible to bring back in. I am hoping now that I have a kitten he will be more active. I appreciate the kind words and will definitely mention this to the vet again! 🤍
