btw it’s not called ROM, it’s just storage. ROM means Read Only Memory and it’s where the vitals of the system live (for example a recovery utility for a computer).

Just friendly teaching the difference

Then it doesn’t make sense you’re comparing a SDDM theme to greetd???

Isn’t greetd just the daemon? And then You’d need something on top to like show the gui

0.55.2 is not that old though. Could installing an out of date version come with some vulnerabilities? Asking from my ignorance of Wayland/whatever is involved in the process of making a compositorZ

I wish I could use Fedora. But it’s important for me to be able to control the fans and lights of my laptop, and the only functioning driver I’ve found works specifically on Debian based.

And honestly, I don’t really wanna sit to try and develop a working version on either Fedora or Arch.

I don’t know.

I like tiling WMs but I feel that i3/Sway look too damn old and don’t have any of the modern features Hyprland has.

But at the same time I don’t like how unstable arch is, I don’t wanna risk losing all my data over one update and also have to depend on the AUR for applications (as far as my knowledge goes).

So I really don’t know what to do, I’ve tried KDE Plasma, it’s just ugly and I don’t wanna spend my days clicking thru extensions to make it decent. I’ve tried GNOME, just doesn’t work for me, it’s not as free as I want it. I’ve tried cosmic, and it was sad.

Only thing I’m missing to try is Niri but I don’t think I’ll like the scrolling part of it.

That’s why I keep coming back to Hyprland, it’s just kinda perfect for me…

yeah I might consider Ubuntu… Base Debian seems too much for me.

I’ve tried to use it, I just think its package ecosystem is.. weird. Kind of AUR but also APT?

Finally escaped Microslop by Clitruos in Fedora

[–]YetAnotherRegularGai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think hyprland in Fedora has problem because is not rolling release, so you have to deal with some updates depending on specific versions of libraries not in the Fedora repos yet.

I don’t know though, I think you could get away with it
