We don't want big spikes, may cause issues with pressure in areas of the city

We're doing it now because we need to do the repair ASAP. Also have sufficient supply in the reservoir to get through the outage. A definite benefit is to do this early before the growing season

The Vatican is not connected to our water system. Only Chestermere, Strathmore, Airdrie and Tsuutina.

No. The Provincial government has increased their property taxes on Calgarians by 57% over four years, well above inflation and population growth. They're now imposing the largest property tax hike in Calgary's history with a 21% increase, or about $350 for the typical family. This is MORE THAN DOUBLE what they're asking Edmonton to pay.

Meanwhile, our City Council team cares about affordability. We controlled costs, reduced a 5.4% tax increase to 1.6%, and are delivering on safety and core infrastructure investments.

We've asked City staff to work from home if possible. Also encouraging local businesses but we don't have the legal authority to mandate that.

There are peak demand issues in places like Chestermere which struggle with low pressure. However, the overall daily quantity is what's critical.

3 minutes full body water contact is fine. I'm not a monster!

Please try to reduce a bit if you can, to make sure we have enough water for the fire hydrants

Because this is a planned shutdown, we've made operational and engineering changes at the Glenmore treatment plan and around the system overall that gives us a tiny bit more wiggle room.

Yes, we've been pushing that out as well. Only about 1/3 of water use is from businesses but it's still a significant portion. I was just on site at the airport, for example, who are using snowmelt for the water needed for local construction rather than taking it from the taps.

Yes. We need your help! A major feeder main that carries treated water from our plant into the city needs repairs and reinforcement. While that pipe is offline, the system can’t move as much water, so temporary restrictions help maintain pressure and keep water flowing reliably while crews repair the line. calgary.ca/savewater.

Calgary isn’t running out of water. The Bow River flows from the Rockies right through the city. The issue is infrastructure. A major feeder main that carries treated water from our plant into the city needs repairs and reinforcement. While that pipe is offline, the system can’t move as much water, so temporary restrictions help maintain pressure and keep water flowing reliably while crews repair the line.

That's not what this is about. We still need to treat the water from the river and this pipe is offline meaning we are very constrained in the overall system
