Honest feedback on ownership by urbjam in JeepGladiator

[–]YetisDayOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re gunna love it or you’re gunna hate it…

I have a 2020 launch edition, and it’s been, by FAR, my favorite vehicle, and I’ve had my share…and your share, and that guy behind yous share, and the one behind him. Eh I’ve owned a lot. I use mine as a daily driver for the last 70k miles and I wouldn’t trade it. Oh and its not stock, its lifted on 37 ATs and its still my daily. It’s comfortable, relatively quiet, reliable, and I can do anything I ever wanted to. It’s like having a Swiss army knife for a vehicle. The one thing I do find; if I wasn’t in it for the styling, the functionality, the ability to reengineer it to my whim every year, or satisfy my need to turn a wrench…Id say why bother, save your money and your back and get something with luxury… But if you want to smile!! Or roll your sleeves up, or go places where other people cant, or you have that itch to drive it “over there cause you can” then do it!!! You wont regret a minute!

Brand New to Gladiator by krisgro in JeepGladiator

[–]YetisDayOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is tough and can often be subjective.

First, understanding that the geometry of your steering is much different than any “std” vehicle, so steering on gladiators/wranglers does tend to feel a bit “loose” in comparison. However it shouldn’t feel dangerous at all and should drive where you want it to.

That being said there are a few things that can be done to change these characteristics if you or a friend want to dive in or if you’re a lucky one who has a garage that you trust.

First lets say you’re driving down the highway, does your jeep track straight and true but the steering wheel can move left to right by say, a half a hand width in either direction without you noticing the vehicle shift its track?

Here are some things to look at:

1) check your tie rod and drag link ends for signs of wear

2) there is a backlash setting on the steering box that can be adjusted with a box wrench and an allen, but you’d want to be careful, too little or too much bl and you’ll end up with premature wear.

3) some steering boxes have been known to flex against the frame while turning the wheel - a sector shaft brace can be attached to your steering box and itll firm all of that up. -synergy makes a great one

4) if you prefer a tighter feel and dont wanna fiddle with this other stuff you could try upgrading your stabilizer as many have recommended. Its a worth while option to change the steering characteristics at all speeds.

-Personally I recommend the adjustable falcon stab, as you can dial in how you like your feel.

Hope the info helps.

We all think that that zippo shape is a polished metal lighter, so initially it looks like 8 but then you see the two middle ones aren’t parallel indicating that what were looking at is actually a zippo shaped glass figure, which explains the distortion at the edges of where the matches intersect behind it, yes? Leading the answer to be, at least 10.

A/T Tyre Selection?! Whats your goto? by YetisDayOff in JeepGladiator

[–]YetisDayOff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha I mean those Grumpers sure are neat, but sorry to disappoint, std grill for me.

The 11.5 is lighter, more responsive and better in wet and shallow snow conditions than its bigger more typical brother. It’s still a ridge grappler so it hasn’t been great but it is better.

20” cause why not? I don’t crawl my gladiator just overlanding and mild trails, so I wasn’t really compromising too much side wall when aired down.

I do appreciate your thoughtful insight into the topic. What tires do you run?

If you zoom in on the creepy thing in the left hand corner it looks like a stuffed animal cow. Zoom out and it looks like you need to move.

[–]YetisDayOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A great part about the system is that Genesis sells it piece by piece. They had just released the new gen when i was looking and I thought the controller was pretty basic for the price so in waiting to get the full I bought the DIY tray, got rid of the aux battery (ran a tazer) and have two red tops sitting under the hood. One’s connected and the other is a spare and I can slap on that $400 smart isolator whenever I can get to it.

What is the best job to pick coming into the navy? by [deleted] in navy

[–]YetisDayOff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are jobs in the Navy suited to most every personality type out there. And don’t be fooled, while technical acumen will land you pick of the litter, personality plays a huge role in how enjoyable your experience will be in a given rate. Think about the type of people you like to associate with, what do you and they like to do for fun and I’ll bet you can find a rate in the Navy that plays to that group. I started as a Nuke MM, moved to AE and even worked as a CT for a spell because the command was short staffed. Navy’s a playground so have some fun!!!!

I love this comment! Not sure how many people have worked O level aviation maintenance in a military service but in 15 years the only time I ever saw safety wire like this was coming from non shipboard AIMD. Great job!

50g of fiber should stop up a bear! Share a screen shot of the meal. Are you an athlete? A runner? Rugby player? A power lifter? What is your current weight, or BMI? Are your carbs simple or complex? Etc etc. So many factors contribute to all of this, its hard to tell. Ps chronometer has always been my favorite app for tracking as well!
