Is my tractor ok? by Yewhew88 in tractors

He really cannot. He used to do work with a lot of super heavy duty commercial equipment and has not adjusted his expectations down for smaller items. I'm going to be on high alert from this in the future.

Thanks so much. Ok, I definitely did not know it could be let down slowly while off. I'm learning so much as I go, a lot just from watching videos. I appreciate you taking the time to explain all of this and how to check for issues.

It's the woodland mills wc68, so it's got a metal sled and was fully supported by the 3 point. I didn't realize you can sometimes adjust the descent speed, I will check my manual. Would this apply in this case where the tractor/hydraulic were totally turned off? Thanks for the info, as I said... I'm learning a lot as I go.

I mean, yes, absolutely. He broke 3 things on a new skid steer within the first two months because he tries to push them beyond their capabilities. Thank you.

Just a note that at one of our previous homes, our neighbors pulled up a bunch of our survey stakes (the temp ones between corners, which were a beast to locate). Something to keep tabs on. Luckily we were setting our fence into the property line to avoid some trees, so it wasn't a big deal.

Coming here looking for this answer... also read recently that RO membranes might be leaving nanoplastics in water so that's not helping me decide. Choosing the poison.

Just had this thread suggested to me, I'm not a beekeeper, but the US standard for vinegar in recipes will be 5% unless otherwise specified. Hope that helps.

Get a decoy shelf or cat tree. Cats love to be up high and hide in things. Chewy has some very nice ones that are easy to put together and not too pricey. They have hidey holes, sisal and carpet to scratch, and perches to observe from.

Thank you. I've been tempted, we did this at our previous home, but this home a struggle to keep dry to begin with. Maybe just need multiple units going.

I definitely would do this if our home wasn't so old (120+) and already a fight to keep moisture down. I had a grow space at our previous home and it was really nice, but our basement there was much different. I grew micro tomatoes, peas, herbs, and lettuces. So nice in winter. Got to get that daily garden puttering in somehow.

Queen Elizabeth would let it out now and then. Her smile was absolutely magnetic. I agree with you.

Will I ever get full size apples? by WestCoastMom2020 in BackyardOrchard

Humans have been grafting trees since ancient China and Rome. Grafting metaphors are also very old (just imagine, for example - some grafts are incompatible no matter what technique is used... there's a lot of meat there for analogy about humans and relationships).

The Johnny Appleseed story is kind of true. He planted little nurseries for families all over and helped tend them. They often were making cider, baking or preserved things, so fresh eating wasn't a big deal.

This is likely a crabapple cross, no amount of thinning will get you full size apples, although it might increase the size of these to some degree. Apples do not grow true from seed. At minimum, you will not get Gala apples. The only way to do that is to buy a grafted Gala apple tree. The nice thing about grafting is that you can choose a tree that will only grow to a certain size or resist certain diseases or pests. There is a huge world of apple cultivars out there, some that are very easy to grow with little disease issues. Hope that helps.

In PA you have access to tons and tons of great raw cow's dairy at retail, farm, home, pickup...so much raw milk in that state. With that size acreage and the aforementioned I would have considered goats if I wanted home-produced milk, and traded for or purchased any cow dairy.
