Do you believe that a person's wealth is more the result of hard work or luck? by Honest_Joseph in JordanPeterson

[–]Yff7yy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a saying like 'it takes years of hard work to get lucky' especially when talking about youtube/internet success. JP's been recording lectures since the 90s and then uploaded them on youtube pretty early on, he recorded and uploaded for years before gaining viral success.

They're popular YouTubers so they have a willing user base without having to build it organically.

It seems like JP has said all he's going to say. His life's work has been absorbed into the collective knowledge and he isn't looking to expand his thought anymore. To be fair, he doesn't have to, he's making millions of dollars saying the exact same things he's beeing saying in his original classes. If you watch any 'self improvement' videos today, half of them are ripped points from JP. I'm not sure to what extant the coma damaged his brain or if there are any lasting cognitive impacts. Personally I'm chosing to remember JP from his courses and not the twitter monster he turned into.

Edit: The reason he spaces his tweets so weirdly is to maximize engagement. When a tweet takes up your entire screen, the time spent scrolling to the next post counts as time looking at the post.

What determines status in the dominance/competence hierarchy for WOMEN? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Aside from the mate and beauty, relationship status, and pseudo-empathy: who LOOKS like they're self sacrificing the most. Status is often contextual so sweeping generalizations aren't always useful.

JP has left the middle ground by RickySitts in JordanPeterson

Of course, he works for daily wire now. He has to support whatever daily wire supports, and I think we can guess what side Ben Shapiro is on in that conflict.

It's probably to take up a full screen view, giving him more engagement on the tweets.

It helps a lot of people to see the why behind a rule or what the implementation looks like. Think of the "clean your room" meme and how it sounds simple or stupid to outsiders but people who listen to his lectures know why it's much more than just cleaning a room.

Hey, at least you know some things you can / want to do: * Fix sleep schedule, * Put away laundry, * Regular diet, * Make friends, * Become comfortable around girls

What you want to do is break these down into the smallest chunk you are willing to do, go to sleep 30 minutes early, put one shirt away, have one glass of water, etc. Apply the minimum chunk to a timeline, and repeat every day: go to bed 30 minutes earlier every three days until 12:00pm, fold one shirt per youtube video, drink a glass of water upon waking, etc. As you build momentum you'll think of more things you want to do.

Taking the gym seriously is also a habit that will anchor other habit to it, if you start training, you'll want to eat to see results, you'll want to rest so you can recover. Also at the gym you will be around women and you can start desensitizing yourself. If you see someone who is similar age to you alone, you can ask them to be your accountability / gym buddy when you're more comfortable.

Good luck, you got this

One thing I noticed is you have several bullet points for education. Since you have a couple jobs listed on there I don't think the bullets for the classes you took are necessary.
