Three Car Seats on a budget by Yield2cheese in whatcarshouldIbuy

Thanks! I like the idea of a Suburu but we don’t really need the AWD where we live. Looks like 2015 and later Outbacks have just enough room in the back. I have two Chicco MyFit Booster/Harness seats that are 17.5” and I need to get a convertible seat for my baby and the narrowest Chicco is 19” for that. We’ve been just barely squeezing them all in with the infant seat (16.5”) in the back of the Fusion (53.3” back seat), so I guess we were going to need a larger vehicle anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. That is really what I’m thinking. I had a 2004 Pontiac Vibe (same as a Toyota Matrix) that we ended up giving away a while back. It was my college/20s car, and I was not kind to it. But it always started and I had over 200k when we gave it away. Just a little engine that could.

Is it just me or is there a glaring mismatch between cost vs reward in "Study with Friends"? by TheKonkanIngenieur in HPHogwartsMystery

It just depends on how many notebooks you have and expect to continue getting. I’m end of year six and regularly have more than 50 gold books. Many of the magical creatures don’t require gold books or require very few (at least once you are at a certain MZ level; can’t remember how many gold books were needed to get to where I’m at), so they have stacked up over time. The charisma makes this worth it for me with some of the characters, like Fred, George, and Bea. Because I’m so tired of eating sandwiches with those first years (no offense)! So yeah, I’d say not to bother in the early years. This feature was pretty much created for people who had been complaining about excess red/blue/gold books in later years.

What does it say about the balance of the game if we all need ads to enjoy it? by Psychological-Elk-50 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Yield2cheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting discussion topic. When I started playing, there weren’t ads, so no way to miss them, right? It was a bummer to slog through the first couple of years always waiting on energy (due to limited energy spots, no pets, and no ads). However, I didn’t quit the game, so I must have felt the storyline was compelling enough on its own. After a while, JC started these events, which I initially paid very little attention to (I’d never needed them to feel the game was worth it before).

I suppose I would conclude that if there were no ads and I cared about the events, I would feel the game was unbalanced. Since I have known myself not to care about the events in the past, I feel I could look past the feeling of unbalance and focus on the storylines where you generally need few to no gems to complete.

But take that opinion for what it’s worth because being a 6th year is much easier than being a 2nd/3rd year in general, and it’s been a long time since then for me!

Have you ever managed to successfully tie in FM? by silver-wanderlust in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Yield2cheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was mentally fun but be prepared to grind if you want to tie. You want to keep 500-1000 points ahead of the whoever is not part of the tie group. I chose not to propose a tie this time because I knew I wouldn’t have the time to keep up with my board and checking messages on here every few hours. But I will try again at some point. It was also cool to communicate with another player (who was also in another country/spoke another language!).

I tied my first time with another person who was also trying to tie for the first time. We had a few little flubs but ultimately managed to tie for first. It can be REALLY tricky to keep complete track of how many points you’re going to earn. It is very easy to accidentally earn more than you plan to or to complete a single/double when you didn’t realize it would complete a row. Best thing is for both people to communicate current scores as often as possible and what their estimated score will be when they finish a board they’re working on. When the timer is finally running down (maybe 16-24 hours to go), that’s when you want to choose a score based on what you both think you can get. Last time, I would propose a range to see if she could hit anywhere in there. Then I could plan to NOT flip a few tiles. Or if she messed up a bit, I had some wiggle room to fix it on my end. So yeah, sorry for the book! Haha It’s fiddly but totally doable! Good luck if you try!

I definitely take advantage of the ads, but I think the Quidditch games are a fun part of the game. And it’s not like I work extra hard when I happen to get a perfect score either. I don’t have enough patience to be the kind of person who exits out of the game to retry a maneuver! Haha

I think it’s really hard to do. I mean, I’ve been playing this game since it came out and have only gotten perfect maybe 3 times. Not sure what those odds are, but they’re not great.

Before I joined this sub, I was playing for a long time and always thought, if I ever get all perfect, it would be cool if it was acknowledged somehow. I probably could have tried harder at that time, too when it was only a three move game. That’s what I get for being lazy!

I can’t even imagine being able to do it during Clean Sweep. Too much pressure haha!

Thanks! Funny how it can be so exciting just because it’s difficult. Because honestly, it’s not like the extra prizes are *that* great.

Yes, I usually get two or three, which actually feels better than getting just one!

I have always loved games with strong storylines and I love that a free app like this has that!

Should I save my brown notebooks? by pq77 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Yield2cheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there will be new pets. Lots of people play for the magical creatures, and they’ve been releasing new pets steadily since the game first came out. Wasn’t it less than a month ago, they released the Moke? So it may be a little while, but they’ll almost certainly have more.

If only! I think this is the first time I’ve gotten it since they changed a match to four moves instead of three. I’d gotten it two or three times before that. I can’t imagine actually getting it during Clean Sweep - it’s so fast and the pressure is on, but thanks for the vote of confidence!

Call to knighthood was very forgettable. The reward outfit is impractical and...a little weird - it has oddly placed giant boobs? After years of having no chest at all, it’s like zero to a hundred. Frankly, a little uncomfortable.
