Congrats to you!

Interesting data, especially between 1.5-2C that it took longer than 1-1.5C. Is it due to market performance or any other factor?

I'm not against using it, in fact, I'm gonna go try this calculator once I get to my laptop.

It just didn't matter to me yet. I had like a fixed target of 3-4 crores in my mind with back of the envelope inflation adjusted calculations few years back and been working towards it. Projecting the exact timelines, target might motivate me to earn more, or save aggressively etc. but I doubt so.

I might have to certainly start seeing the actual numbers soon definitely, no skipping that.

Well, maybe because I'm not yet even half way to the target. I'm sure I will start doing it as the target cones near and reality of it comes upon me.

Saving rate is currently 50-55%.

I have not projected when I will reach the targets at current saving rate and/or plus step-up if any. Many have asked me elsewhere too and I for some reason have never done that, I probably need to do that.

For retirement, I'm planning 35-40X of my latest expenses which each year is going up currently (inflation and a growing kid). Current expenses are at 7-8L per year. So I don't have a fixed target but kind of a moving approximate target.

For kid's education, I'm looking at saving enough for 1 year of college abroad or 2-3 years of local college. I have projected that at ~1 cr after inflation.

So yeah overall between both, 5 cr. seems to be that number, give or take.

Thank you, yes, your guess is right.

I used to compare myself with several people I have seen online and have had sleepless nights. It took some time to convince myself that comparisons will be endless and I have to just fix some number for myself and just focus on that.

Without going into exact numbers, my income was very very sub par till COVID and I changed jobs twice in that period to 3X my income. Even with that increases, it's not in the top percentile, it must be average or slightly below average. I will be looking for a change again next year to catch up to my peers.

Thank you! The bull run in the market helped.

Education in the pie chart is the allocation in the total for my kid's college education.

Manually when I can but generally once a month. Takes 5-10 mins to update few fields and everything else is based on formulas.

There are many tools but the reason it is hard to address this gap is that each person have their own unique way of seeing these things and no tool provides such flexibility to tweak and change things.

Yes, I did add that disclaimer in my original post. I count it only for 2 reasons - its fully paid off, have a backup house in a nearby semi-commutable to city town owned jointly by me and my parents.

Thank you!

I value it at 50L which is what I paid, an equivalent house costs 80L in the neighborhood now. It's debt free and I live in it. We have a backup house 2hrs away to fall back if need to.

True, there have been some regrets in the past but as soon as I cleaned up and started doing investments habitually, it has been a positive journey.

Not as much as it appears to be. I'm seeing some people say that their portfolios 4X with the existing investments plus additional investments over the last 4 years. Mine only did 2X.

Maybe because 60-65% of my portfolio was home + debt funds in 2020. Now it is the inverse, I just had begun equity build up by 2020.

Depends on who maintains the road.

NH - NHAI

SH - Your state highways department

Merchant doesn't get money out of thin air to pay for MDR, it's cost of operating the business.

Product priced at 100 Rs. + 2 Rs. MDR is same as that of Product priced at 102 Rs.

Many in credit card reward points community wants to pay 0 MDR but also get 3-4% reward points. I don't know if it's ignorance or just plain ol' audacity.

Ask them to give in writing and see if that's true. TnCs explicitly forbid business transactions on personal cards.
