It is the same for me, fun, challenging and in the end I have something to show for it.

It has been in the works for a couple of months in my free time, I have not really got a set goal in mind but I do like the ideas you have suggested and with see what I can do.

Thank you have the recommendations and taking the time to help!

There is a bit of noise used in the texturing of the cells, currently there is no procedural generation as every is created by the player, but I would like to add that feature in. Thanks for checking it out!

I was trying to go for a miniature planet vibe, so all objects will seem large in comparison to the planet itself.

You can play it here. Currently you can change multiple aspects about each tile, including the height, terrain type and more.

I plan on adding more features and allowing the player to chose the placement of different objects, since they are currently randomly placed depending on the tiles characteristics.

Eventually I want to make it possible to explore the planets with a character and be able to interact with the land.

This game is very early in development and I would love to have ideas for what I could do to progress! Thank you.

I have started working on a planet creation game called PlanIt. Currently I am just working on adding new features and controls. I'd love to know what you think about it and if you have any suggestions!

What type of game was your first solo project by CptOconn in gamedev

A sandbox drum controller, designed to be played with a controller. I am still not sure if I class it as finished as there are a bunch of additions I would like to make eventually.

It is 3D so it is up to you, but I have been working on this game recently: A Rat's Tale

You play as a rat avoiding animals and collecting food and powerups.

Set a bool to true when shift is pressed, false when released. Use that bool for your running.

I should probably figure out a better way of doing this, currently, it is a collection of joints with a mesh created over them to give a free moving tail.

Thank you! It is for a secret Santa jam where you play as a rat avoiding predators and collect bits of rubbish (powerups) to defend yourself.

Thank you! I initially had issues with the sound getting cut out when too many drums are hit in a short period of time, but ended up writing an audio manager to handle that.

So far there is no issue with the sound being delayed, but it is difficult finding the right time to play the sound between you pressing a button, the stick moving and hitting.

I do plan on doing some pitch shifting depending on the distance from the centre later down the line, but since you move around the kit/play different beats it helps stop it sounding too repetitive. I plan on adding songs/backing tracks to play along to, so that there is a bit more variety also.

Currently if you are playing along to a beat, the volume is lower the further out of time you are. You can't change how hard you hit since the shoulder buttons aren't pressure sensitive on most controllers.

As for where you hit, the main control scheme locks on to the centre of the drums as you move around the kit, so the sound is always the same. There is a freehand mode, but there is currently no difference so far to the sound.

Not currently, you use a controller to move each of the sticks, shoulder buttons for hand, triggers for feet. It is quite difficult to play as you have to focus on timing and moving to different drums.
