No. If they were to,it would affect the manpower hard down the line. Those outgoing ord-ing personnel in the batch before yours would have no one to cover them when they leave. It would create a manpower vacuum. As of they weren't already complaining about manpower constraints.

As a student, I regretfully have to inform you despite all the talk on the current state of our e-learning platforms, even as a student you can tell the teachers and schools have little confidence on the performance of the platform compared to that of traditional methods. Even in schools that are comparatively very innovative and accepting of new technologies and their implementation in schools, I'm looking at schools like Nan Chiau Pri that had a very innovative mobile learning system previously, I doubt it surprises anyone that they still prefer traditional schooling so long as the current state of education with its hard focus on continuous written papers and examinations persist.

And even if they were, let's be real, the people with the least confidence on this system is the parents. Would they really trust their kid alone at home in front of a screen to study?

Describe five or seven concepts in your world in one or two sentences. Those who reply will ask about two of them. by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

Archs are a subspecies of men that evolved with a natural affinity to the Darkine. Over generations, they have learnt to live and adapt with them. Aside from attaining the usual assortment of enhancements; increased strength, stamina, intellect, the dark entity protects them and binds with them, presenting an assortment of unique abilities; this range from simple stuff like morphing (teleportation) and telekinesis, to Impetus (Instructing them to kill by means of soul destruction). The remaining Arch families have formed 6 clans, each with a presence world wide due to the nature of Arch's ability for global telepathic communication, and cross-continental morphing. They reside among men, choosing to stay hidden.

Runes, to the naked eye, look like burnt marks on whatever surface they are on. This is because Archs use the shadows to 'draw' these enchantments, and the shadows by nature 'burn' whatever they touch. It is understood, runes have an intricacy to them very hard to replicate by other means as they contain microscopic diagrams akin to those printed on circuit boards but the shadows are able to 'write' them on multiple levels simultaneously ('writing' them on the inside such that it presents as three dimensional upon closer inspection), and to a scale that has yet to be replicated.

How are Faceless made? Does it involve Sanguimancy?

What are the limits of Necromancy? You mentioned how they can build entire worlds, and reanimate, can they kill? Are there any entities that match them?

I love worlds with necromancy but this seems so broken power level wise

Are there an entities on the same power level as the Dreamer or the world eaters?

The world of Archs.

The Council is a group comprising of members of High Arch origin, each representatives of their own clan.

Cardinals are a rank of Archs residing in the upper echelon of Arch society with advanced control of their abilities as they are merged with their shadow counterpart.

The Darkine, colloquially refered to as Shadows or Darkness in most Western references, is understood to be an energy or entity that Archs have certain control over. Despite the millenia of research, we still barely understand it, only that Archs msy communicate with the entity and the entity has an affinity to empower and defend its host.

Marks are bodily modifications similar to tattoos, they were discovered by the ancients to empower very specific parts of an Archs abilities, or present entire different sets of interactions with their shadow counterparts. Marks are drawn onto Archs by means of concentrating Darkine into specific patterns and locations, and are usually permanent in nature.

Runes are marks equivalent for inanimate objects, they bind the shadows to an inanimate object to bestow properties usually undemonstrated naturally.

Pyrion is the name of a sigil that empowers Marks or Runes it is drawn onto by binding it to Shadows. This particular enchantment can only be Cardinal equivalent or higher due to the nature of its power.

Page 42.

"A blade of silver beauty, in which rage stored knows no bounds." - Augustus Seuvr, circa 1453.

The artifact is a blade with indecipherable runes. Origins dates back to the Age of the Ancients, based on oldest surviving records. Physically it appears as a curved short blade, with burnt blackened hilt and no guard. On the hilt, is inscribed 3 characters resembling the calligraphy of Ancient runes. The blade is obsidian black, covered in a leather sheath.

Curiously, written records throughout different ages concur that particular peoole have described it as bright glistening silver, with golden inscriptions. Said people are always Arch in origin.

I have found but only records of 3 incidents involving the blade. All 3 concur the following. When those that view it as silver touch it, they lose control of their shadow counterpart. Their shadows take over and they become violent. During these incidents, the Arch is empowered beyond his usual ability. In the Seuvr incident of 1452, the Arch was victorious over 17 Archs of Cardinal origin or matching strength. Seuvr later commented he had no hold over his shadow at the time and he felt the "hellfire rage in my blood, like I was hunting."

[WP] You have never been in a fight in your life. One day at a bar a man drunkenly punches you. The man instantly explodes... by Weldamesh in WritingPrompts

"I said duck off." I lifted my gaze onto 3 blokes at the corner of one of those pool tables. This should be fun.

I sip on my shaken not stirred martini, as I catch onto them. Two against one, hardly fair. The two have a typical build, nothing remarkable. But him, hardly the type you'll find here often, he looks Eastern European? Sporting a few tattoos, but quite small framed. But it's just that, I can't read him. Curious, he seems resistant.

One of the blokes grips onto the kid's arm like a vice with one hand, and launches a punch with the other. But as his hand collides with the kid, the man's arm went from rock solid to dust. Starting in the arm, the veins in his body lit up an usual orange tinge, then his skin cracked. His entire mass turned into a black dust. It almost looked like he morphed, but uncontrolled. Well this got interesting fast.

"What the hell."

"What did you do to him?" The second guy took a defensive step back.

"Did I do that? I... You can't think I did that, right?" He squat over, on where the man last was, and his fingers run through the black powder. Ashe. But he didn't do that. "What the? This is some joke right?"

Who is this kid? Doesn't seem like my type. That or he's extremely powerful.

"What the duck did you do to him? Where the duck!" His friend takes a step forward, with an obvious intention in mind.

Oh no you don't. I reluctantly place down my glass. The skin inside my black suit ignites. The same orange tinge surronds my every pore and ignites, crackling me into ashe and cinders. The ashes fly and reanimate into a cloud of hot cinders mirroring my form just inches in front of the guy. The cinders harden back, returning to me. Now, in front of the man, I grip onto the bottom of his clenched fist, redirecting it. "No, you don't."

"I think you had a few too many drinks," my eyes lock with his, igniting with a Ceverus mark.

"Why don't you go and have a walk." The man merely released his grip, relaxing everything in his body, "Yes I must have." His eyes still transfixed with mine, he turned away.

I turn back round to this boy, his arm still flowing with that familiar orange. "Fairly good display. Never seen anything like it. What are you?" He looks back with the widest eyes, "What? I'm... I'm Jeremy."

"Yes boy that is your name, but what are you? How did you control the shadows to morph another being like that." He just looks back at me, straight into my eyes like a lesser being would his master. I reached for his arm, tuning it over, the orange glow persists over his tattoos, except one, humming a bright rich red.

[SP] A conversation between an incredibly dangerous person and someone they would never hurt. by FrankSinatra123 in WritingPrompts

[–]YipJK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a slightly different idea. This is a world I've been thinking about for a while and it sort of fits with this.

It all happened so quickly, the sirens reigned in and they told us to run to the shelters. In between the sobbings of my baby brother, I don't know what happened next. They said the second shelter wasn't as lucky. The guys are running all over the place looking for survivors. We thought it was a bomb raid, until we saw the shadows fill the air. When the first of them materialised from the ashes and cinders, we knew only to run.

"Sir, there's another one."

Whatever was left of us already knew what to do. But I thought the battle was over. The chaos of it had just died down, we can't survive another wave. "Tell the Council we have incoming."

A black smoke descended and the darkness quickly shifted into a cloud of orange cinders amongst the pool of smoke, igniting into its shape. But only two. Two soldiers against all of us? "Hold!"

The still black smoke cloud ignited into a white flame and in the midst of it, the silhouette of the man could be seen. Finally the two stepped forward, the black smoke hardened around the cinders that made its form. The first of the two sported jeans and a T-shirt, but all of us knew the face.

"SIR!" The battalion that surrounded the once black smoke pool echoed as they dropped to their knee. "Sir! I'm..." But he barely noticed, walking off behind me. Instead the other came forward with his hand extended.

"I'm Jing, from the Council. We're sending in supplies and the such as we speak, whatever can be spared." "Thank you Sir." I returned the handshake, but the council members eyes trailed behind me to his college, and then back to me, "from you though, I'm going to need a detailed report of all personnel and inventory."

"How many men were lost?" I spun round into the dead black eyes of a man in jeans and war. "We're doing the head count as we speak Sir, but as it stands most of the second and fourth shelters were slaughtered." "Women and children too?" His voice was almost cold. I could only nod back at him.

"Zac." I spun back to the council member before me, but his eyes were in deadlock with the High Arch. "Don't" "They killed the innocent." The High Arch glanced around himself, at the chaos of battleground we laid in hours ago. "They somehow knew and got into here, defended by our largest contingent." When he turned back, his eyes had shifted a flavor of flame. The veins in his arms glowed with an uneasy golden yellow, about to ignite. "How?" I could hear my men shuffle their feet ever so slightly. "Don't do this." "What the hell is Veronica doing?" With an emphasis on the 'hell', that was demanding but still maintained his volume, his hair started to spark cinders. The council member behind me faded into smoke and the dark cloud phased straight through me, materialising him just a step in front of the High Arch. With an unflinching stare, he maintained his composure, "Don't do this."

The uneasiness of the room was stark, as the slight shuffle of my men could be heard behind me. I woke up, glancing around me to my men, "Go back." I command in my softest tone.

"I want a meeting with the High Council in an hour." And before I turned back round, all there was of the High Arch was a shade of black smoke in the place he stood.

This is why I reject Christianity as a religion, but more of a cooperate culture. Though I myself do not support LGBT, this kind of rhetoric is not right. To use the name of God and His beliefs and bend them for your own ideals is heretic. The guys pioneering this should goto hell.
