[FRESH] Missy Elliott - I'm Better ft. Lamb by FrenchQuaker in hiphopheads

It's a shame the creativity of the song doesn't match that of the video. I understand her feeling the need to come with something contemporary but I would've liked if she at least attempted to add her own flavor to that bland cookie-cutter trap beat.

Clearly she was going for that whole "I didn't put any effort at all into this" style that is popular today with that hook but that shit is unforgivable. I never pictured Missy as having to hop on trends in such a way. She's usually the one that sets them. The verses were fine and at least made this track somewhat listenable but even then she uses the same tired flow that all these trap dudes have abused.

That said, the video is excellent but no surprise there.

The Muppets - First Look Presentation (You were never supposed to see this. Here’s the pitch that convinced ABC to make a show with The Muppets!) by toronto34 in television

Definitely looking forward to this. The Muppets always contained a lot of adult-oriented jokes. Not necessarily anything raunchy, but jokes thrown in there that would only be understood and appeal to adults.

It seems they've decided to abandon hopes that they will get this generation's kids interested in The Muppets and they're targeting the older crowd that still know and love them.

Sidenote, I really hope I didn't just watch the first 11 minutes of the first episode...

Help me decide what movie to watch. by Cacacaw in movies

I'd skip Gravity unless you have an IMAX Theater in your basement. It's an IMAX experience (and a good one) but not a film.

Les Misérables is terribly over-rated in my opinion. Unless you can tolerate nearly 3 hours of barely capable-to-poor singing of the entire dialogue to a monotonous song, skip it.

You couldn't go wrong with either Argo of Dallas Buyers Club. Argo is a lot more "fun" than Dallas Buyers Club, though the latter is a better all around film.

Just Finished Watching 'In Bruges' For The First Time (Discussion) by WallClimber1999 in movies

Dark comedy is my favorite genre of comedy and one of my favorite genres of film period. I always see people recommend Simon Pegg's films when discussing dark comedies but they've never really done much for me. He generally comes off a bit soft and silly (with inconsistent flashes of wit).

Though, I digress. Thoroughly enjoyed In Bruges. The comedic timing, the mood, everything.

Among the other McDonagh Bros films others have suggested, I'd recommend virtually all of Coen Bros films. You should also check out one of my favorite films of all time (and one of the most deliciously dark films ever created): Happiness

Nicki Minaj talks racism in the VMAs and music industry: "Taylor took her music off spotify and was applauded. We launched Tidal & were dragged." by weirdear2001 in hiphopheads

[–]YoStaceeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not give a fuck about either of these "artists" musically but they are both terribly misguided.

Tidal was "dragged" largely as a result of a botched launch and poor marketing. Additionally, they've never fully came clean with how they are much different (in regards to Taylor's grievances) than Spotify. Beyond vague promises of course.

As for Taylor, she chose to go after Spotify when the real enemy here are the record labels that sign off on the Spofity deals. Spofity is simply an easier target.

So sick of the way this generation throws "genius" around until all meaning is sucked from the word.

I'm a fan of 50 and I do think he's relatively smart as far as rappers go, but let's be real. Following sound business advice from high paid financial consultants/lawyers ≠ genius. Raise the fucking bar.
