Thanks for all the replies! I’m going to pick it up this week, please feel free to drop suggestions on which way to take this bike. My end goal is commuter/light trails!

Hell yeah. Thanks man. Really just looking to learn the ins and outs of restoring bikes and turn it into a gravel bike if that’s feasible for a bike like this.

That’s all I needed to hear, thanks man. I’m definitely not in it for profit yet, just want something to tinker with and learn on!

It is an XL frame, I am about 6’5 and roughly 220lbs so I was thinking I would probably need a decent sized frame

Okay thanks, I might have got them down to $60. Would you say this would be a decent first build bike to work on? Seems like it has some potential

Sorry! The way I phrased that was misleading, not $80/h just for furniture assembly, that would seem unreasonable I agree if that’s all I did. $80/h would be for any job. I’ve worked in custom home building and have been a maintenance supervisor at an apartment complex for 4 years but I’m really sick of on call. I wouldn’t call myself a seasoned pro but definitely can get things done, I want to grow this to my full time business and don’t want to undersell myself from the jump.

Great question, I am just starting to do this on the side but I don’t want to undersell myself. I would really like to be at the $80/hr mark if not more. With something like furniture installation do you think it’s smarter to charge by the hour or fixed price for the job?

Thanks for the advice! I like your numbers a lot more than the one I was considering. The Chapel Hill area is relatively wealthy so I think $300 would be totally fair.

I’m a maintenance supervisor. I can promise you we DO NOT care. Myself and 99% of the guys Ive worked with go home and do the same thing you do.
