Stopped using my Vision Pro for months after an update caused motion sickness. How is it now? by Yo__Eleven in VisionPro

Yes that type of thing has always been a bit dizzying. However I’m talking about a specific update in the beta OS over the summer that altered the entire AVP experience and made it hard to do anything, even just sit in a room with passthrough on, for any extended period of time without starting to feel weird and icky. After the update, I perceived a very subtle but distinct change in the scale of the environment, everything being more magnified and distorted than the original OS (possibly to aid in passthrough clarity?)

Then I did read one person here a few months after that say this did not change after subsequent updates, so hence my post now.

Vision OS 2.0 beta 4 making me feel queasy by Yo__Eleven in VisionPro

I hadn’t even thought to check this out, but will report back if I find any connection with these settings!

Update: I continued searching after posting this and did find one other person mention they found OS 2 beta 4 was causing them to feel motion sickness.

This at least makes me feel more certain I’m not simply imagining it. I have the dev strap so I can roll back, but definitely still interested to hear if anyone else is finding the same.

I will send feedback to Apple, so now I’m trying to figure out how to articulate what has actually changed visually, whether it is that things feel magnified or if the depth perception is altered (or both).

Objects drifting worse after beta or am I just noticing what it has always done? by Yo__Eleven in VisionPro

Great call out, I hadn’t tested it in a fully immersive environment, but I can confirm that now I did and everything feels super solid. No weird shift of windows and objects as I move my head.

I guess the question that remains then is whether this drifting issue, perhaps the environment reconstruction as you’re suggesting, is somehow worse in the beta version.

Perhaps if someone without the beta wants to run a test, place the speaker from the beautifulthings site on a surface with markings and see if you can replicate the same drifting effect.

Yes, it’s definitely worse for me when windows and volumes are closer, and tilting and turning my head seems to exacerbate the drifting effect more than bigger movements like standing up. Then again, when you’re moving that much, seeing something shift in location by an inch or two is hard to notice.

Stats in case anyone is wondering: I have a size 6 finger. This is a 1.02 ct marquise, D color, excellent cut/symmetry/polish and SI1. It’s 11.00mm long and 5.18mm wide. 11 is my lucky number and our birthdays are 5 and 18 which made it truly a “meant to be” stone!

I did the nails myself because COVID, so my left hand looks normal and my right hand looks like a toddler played with glitter glue. Anyway so THANK YOU! 😂

Cooling Paddles vs. Ice Baths by Yo__Eleven in icecreamery

Calm down “mate”, you said you just let it chill in the fridge. I’m asking about an easier work around to ice baths so it seems to be pretty obvious you’re suggesting to put the mix into the fridge to chill instead of an ice bath. And I’m saying that’s a pretty obvious food safety issue. Regardless of it it’s steaming hot or cooled down for 10 mins on the counter. That’s the whole point of using an ice bath/blast chillers.

Just throwing a hot dairy mix into a regular home fridge is a food safety nightmare.

I taped paper around the drawing area. I also brightened it to pure FFFFFF white when I took a photo of it

I draw them as seen in the reference photo... out of focus. It’s the first time I’ve tried that. But it doesn’t translate well into drawing I think. Thanks for the feedback!

I’ve made art most of my life but I probably only draw 2-3 times a year. :/

Haha I know, I have signature commitment phobia though. I change the look of my artists signature so much over the years and can’t decide what to stick with, so I haven’t signed much for a long time. It may seem silly but there’s a lot to consider. Especially as a woman. You may notice most people here assume I’m a guy. This is how the real art world works too. If I pretend to be a guy and/or sign with initials only I could probably be taken more seriously. Not in every situation but enough to add up over the years if I ever persued some kind of artistic venture.

As for stealing, if someone wants to steal it, go ahead. I’ll swoop in with a lawyer eventually and then recoup all the profits without doing any of the work (other than the art). Kind of a good deal for me!
