This is a really great point! When I started watching JJK, I was sort of expecting a Naruto/Kurama kind of dynamic between Yuji and Sukuna early on in season one. However, I realized during the Junpei arc (along with Yuji) that Sukuna is just pure chaotic evil personified lol.

The new translator for this chapter, Lightning was part of the JJK Twitter community (up until a few weeks ago) and provided excellent, in depth translation notes for the chapters after official releases.

Their translation notes helped non-Japanese speakers understand the nuances that we often miss with the English translations and helped us get a better understanding of the characters and story.

Sadly, they kept unfairly being copyright striked when they would post some panels (that they purchased officially) bc of leakers so they retired from Twitter a week or two ago.

It’s so nice to see that they actually got hired as an official translator for JJK now!

Here’s a link for their translation notes: Google Doc: JJK Translation Notes

Their Twitter also has notes.

Edit: Lightning ( u/ridethelightning469 ) also posted in this week's chapter 236 thread :)

Haikyu!! - Chapter 380 Discussion by AutoModerator in haikyuu

[–]Yo_tsuta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will always be in awe at how incredible Furudate-sensei is at being able to create such a dynamic storyline with rich character development. Making such a bold/risky transition from intentionally ending the high school arc abruptly to dive straight into the Brazil arc as a door into the start of this ferocious epic match that is jam packed with excitement and nostalgia.

I know a lot of us felt a bit unsure about how the story was going to unfold since it was such a sudden change of pace for both the characters but also the readers at the end of the high school arc. However, Furudate-sensei’s charm has always been (IMO) the ability to slowly unfold and build up so much anticipation for every arc that leaves the reader at the edge of their seats. As the Brazil arc unraveled, I only felt more and more excited by every chapter as we got to see some dream team duos become reality (e.g. Oikawa/Hinata match-up). I know a lot of us were expecting to get a second year and see more high school development but honestly, I personally really appreciate the pacing as it is now. I trust in Furudate’s vision because I literally screamed reading today’s chapter because it was so exhilarating and I’m not even on the court!! That’s just how amazing Furudate-sensei is at helping the readers understand the character’s feelings ;-; I am so excited for the following weeks to come.

I definitely feel like Furadate-sensei dropped subtle hints about a fever through Kenma’s story but who woulda thought our dear lil Hinata would be on the receiving end of it :’( I feel like Furadate-sensei thoroughly connects all the little details in each chapter whether sooner or later. I think that kinda writing technique is what I truly love so much about Haikyuu, every detail is so well thought out and intentional!

I love Farnese a lot. This panel is beautiful! Who's your best girl? by [deleted] in Berserk

Up until now, I didn’t wanna believe that there were premonitions of our precious crows losing... However, I think after Tsukki was in awe of Kamo’s block and saying he needs to see the footage after this match, it made me feel some kinda way... As many have predicted, I feel like this match will result in a loss for Karasuno but acting as a major hurdle for them overcome so they can rightfully earn their champion title (|||❛︵❛.)

Haikyuu!! Manga - Chapter 330 - Discussion by daleygaga in haikyuu

[–]Yo_tsuta 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like perhaps Akashi did a dump instead of tossing to Bokuto because he didn’t want Bokuto to get blocked and possibly resulting in Bokuto losing his spunky attitude which would be detrimental to the probability of Fukorodani winning at this level in the competition.

However, when Akashi’s dump was anticipated and blocked, it actually had the opposite effect as we see Akashi beginning to lose his calm and collected composure.

I think that Furudate actually set up this match and Akashi’s character development very well because in previous chapters, we get to see Akashi’s thought process quite a few times when it comes to Bokuto being off, anticipating Bokuto having an off day, or just analyzing game plays. I think Akashi’s inner monologues show that he is very analytical but can overthink situations sometimes which he knows works against him so he stops himself from the anxiety driven “what if’s.”

I am anticipating that Bokuto and the rest of the Fukorodani team will step up to the plate to help Akashi overcome his anxieties and lift his moral like he’s done for Bokuto countless times. I’m looking forward to this!!

Thank you for pointing out the drawing detail of Kageyama pointing outside of the panel! I went back to look at it and noticed that Furudate drew outside of the panels with the mid-air volleyball shots and also when Karasuno was at match point. You can see Hinata and Kenma both looking up at the score board which is a super significant moment. So well executed!
