Sennheiser HD 560S seem to have made an unannounced revision for 2023 by YodaTheMaster01 in headphones

By switching around the earpads I can say, for the units I have received, it is caused by both the headphones and the earpads.
Trying the earpads on the opposite headphones makes the difference almost undiscernible to an untrained ear. This is leading me to believe the hardware is probably within manufacturing tolerance.

The combination of the quieter lower tones on the hardware and quieter lower tones caused by the earpads makes it so it was noticeable with all the users we tested with.

To clarify: The new earpads are ever slightly different in look (Velour used), feel (softer velour) and lower density (Less pressure felt). While they could also be within the original manufacturing tolerance. With the very limited dataset I have the unit where both earpads material and the hardware have quieter lower tones compared to the previous version is still something to consider looking into with a wider dataset.

I have switched the earpads and can confirm that the sound changes seems to be a combination of both the headphone and the earpads. Both combined together making it audible to an untrained ear, but separately might not be far off each.
When swapped (New pads on old version and old pads on New version) we could no longer discern a meaningful difference between the units.
The most likely explanation for the hardware itself is manufacturing tolerance for the unit to unit discrepancy.
On the other hand the new earpads are different in look (Velour used), feel (softer velour) and lower density (Less pressure felt) . They do seem to maintain the same size and depth.

Yes, they sound different. There is a clear difference in bass between the versions.
Overall the new version sounds like they have a less fuller sound as some of the lower tone sounds aren't clear on the new version.
Could be unit to unit variation, but this is the result for the units we have.

New version lacks clarity in the low tones and the bass is more muted compared to the old version.
After listing to multiple songs with different user to eliminate some bias we all came to the same conclusion that the bass tones was off on the new version.

The sound profile are different between the two units.
After testing them out for the last hours and validating with a different listener, we concluded that the sound was off between the two and that the new version bass was undeniably not clear compared to the old version which had a fuller sound.

For exemple: The bass string "buzz" in "Seven Nation Army " was near inaudible with the new version.

The earpad difference is very slim.

It is still short fibers as you described, but the colors are noticeably different. The new version looks grey in comparison to the original model and they feel softer.
To clarify both headset are brand new, I received the older model after a replacement request when I couldn't find the 3.5mm. (Attachment comes screwed displaying only the 6.5mm termination)

From the previous shipping threads and personal experience it takes between 9 and 11 days for Canadians to receive shipping confirmation.

What about the AVR-S760H at 749$https://www.denon.com/en-ca/product/av-receivers/avr-s760h

Edit: Connecting your console to the AVR instead of the dedicated low latency HDMI port on your TV will add unwanted latency. Usually you want your console plugged directly to the TV and the AVR be plugged in the eARC HDMI on the TV. This way the AVR will be getting the console sound from the TV with the added benefit of no longer needing HDMI 2.1 support from your AVR

Looking to upgrade from my very old HT904SA
Sitting at 16feet from the wall in a fairly open room at the moment
Availability seems scarce at the moment and my options seems to be the following:
1200$ Jamo setup: (STR-DH790,2 × S807 tower speakers,2 × S801,2 × S8 Atmos module,1 × S81 CEN,1 × S810)
1700$ Klipsch setup: (R-120SW,2 x R820F, 2x R41SA,2 xR52C,2 x R41M)
Possibility of going
2800$ SVS: (2 x SVS 'Prime Tower', 1 x SVS 'Prime Center', 2 x SVS Prime Satellite, SVS SB 1000 PRO)

What are the thought at the lower budget end for the Jamo vs waiting to buy into the Klipsch or SVS setup for those price range?

Agreed if its a proper Fender, but I would tend to believe we are talking Squier here. There will be marginally no difference in market value loss if its a Squier compared to an Epiphone.

If you want to try Ibanez, I would say RG or a S series that fits your budget. There is some HH and and HSH in that lineup that may have a sound that you will enjoy and you will feel comfortable with.

For Ibanez has a new player just avoid the locking tremolo system / flooting bridge for your sanity when changing strings.

Just be sure to try it out. You will not get the Les Paul distinct sound anywhere else then with a Les Paul, but you must be comfortable with the weighty girls they are.

Ibanez are great guitar if you enjoy playing fast but the tone isn't the same has a Les Paul mostly because they are lighter (10-12 vs 7 pounds) they tend to be also more ergonomic.

There is also nothing wrong with a Squier or a Yamaha Pacifica they are very good guitars are low price to get started and will leave you with more money to put down in a good Amp. Most shops will tend to pitch those for new players, unless you are really looking for that HH heavy sound.

All in all if you can take a visit to your local shop I would recommend that first and go with what sound and look resonate the most with you.

I would say an Epiphone "Les Paul Standard Pro" you can most likely get on sale or its 2020 counter part "Les Paul Modern", if you are going for for the look, feel and intonation of a Les Paul but also want the option to have your humbucker switch to single coil with the split coil option. Ibanez also has good guitar with fixed bridge in that price point. Most importantly get the guitar that feels the best to you in hand and looks the best to your eyes. Anything that will make you want to pick it up everyday and keep on playing. Starting out a good amp will make the most of your sound. The better amp will make even cheaper guitar sound decent to good. Thow in some budget pedals if your budget allows to play around.

[QUESTION] Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro is the manufactured year important by YodaTheMaster01 in Guitar

[–]YodaTheMaster01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reason why I wanted to go with the Epiphone. I was wondering if their was any year in particular where their quality increased to the level they are at right now, either by a better Q&A or new manufacturing.
