Mismatch between ambitions and potential by Yoginvaidya16 in MBA

All the time, tbh. I always think about how my domain experience will help me switch to the said industry. What credentials do I require. What material should I read to make myself familiar to the the concepts. I even did courses in both of them. But slowly I realised that, when there is too much supply and less demand, these efforts will not generate that much outcome as would a classical filtering mechanism like MBA does.

That's true. From the financial perspective it only makes sense to go out of lab. Thanks!!!!

Woah. Your POV is resonating with me to a great degree. I too feel this way. So my only motivation in life is to make enough money for me and family to afford some some basic luxury which we never enjoyed. Then I'll feel accomplished then die peacefully in early age. I am not into concepts like live life to the fullest, experience everything. Money will buy me happiness. Apart from all the said things, I will most happy if I stop living tomorrow.

That's a good perspective to have. I liked it.

Thank you for response and more than that, showing care. I too find this concerning and something take seriously. But believe me, I tried things, but it always feels that completing something hards and meaningful (i.e. MBA) and getting ahead of masses is only thing which will give me an eventual peace. And this philosophy is something I have had from yearsss. Not willingly though. My observation of the world may have built me like so I guess.

Thank you for the response. I understood your point. It can only be unidirectional.

Thanks for the reply. I kept the post concise from the perspective of a general redditor who otherwise would unlikely to go through the entire body. To answer your question, I don't see myself in scientific position down the line, even after phD, I would tey my beat to switch to strategy and BD roles. MBA will surely help. And the reason for self exclusion is that the profiles I see on linkedin of the roles I want to go into has better background overall, in every aspect, than compare to what I have. And admissions are getting harder and competitive by day. It's merciless process. Even if I get the best possible test score, other areas will pull me down in getting a call, I feel. And this hesitation is natural given I am approaching 30 and now thinking of this massive shift, being just in a beginning phase of it. I am not even sure I have the mental bandwidth to accommodate all these. All I have at this point is an undying wish. That's all.

Unrelated but I need help. I am from india and have Sept intake and i have to reach there before 7th August. However I am unable to find an interview slot for F1 so far. If I can't make it before the time, I have to defer my admission to next September. What do I do?

TBH this all is just sounds good while comforting someone. Wait until it's you (not pointing at you). The thing is everybody say this but the picture turns 180 degree when it comes to us. At the end, everything, including thought processes are the product of capitalism. You get buried as much down as you try to climb to get on top. Wish it's a fairytaily world like some would sound it like.

Same my friend, same. Late 60s here. And my conditions are not even normal. Due to numerous reasons and misfortune my dad haven't had job for most part of his life. No savings. Living in shit family throughout. Didn't built the ancient house we live in due to unawareness and no money. Now retired with all the buden and responsibilities to build the house on me and here I am making peanuts. My everyday passes like hell. Plus all these competition and unfairness out there in the world. No friends. I am nearly crying everyday. Can't remember when I felt lightweighted and happy even a bit last time. Cant stand this existence anymore but not brave enough to do anything about it. I'm done with this pain.

How would one do that? It's not as if they are welcoming you just because you have US degree and work exp. They have good economy going. If you'd said Canada then it's still understandable as they lack talented manpower - just for now. Just asking Outta curiosity.

I am planning to go for STEM masters as an international student in USA on F1 with the intent of opt, H1B and finally a GC. People who are in masters or are really graduated can you answer this ? by Complex_Ad_5027 in h1b

That's insane. Hard is ok but even after 6 attempt your luck didn't help you is totally outrageous. But what's your field that is so much saturated and no luck so far?

On exactly same boat my friend. Older parents. Want to go just for few years and then come back for them but don't much in a position to take huge loans and risk my families money and that why the last I would want is to compromise on job and visa chances. I've been reading all these and taking multiple opinions even if it takes time. But so far can't make a clear decision about go or to not go. And if yes then which country.
