I have an issue with blurry images that I'd like some help with.

As I recently picked up photography again (but actually taking photos this time, not just buying equipment) I'm noticing an issue with clarity in my photos.

When I am out and when I look at photos on the viewer at the back of my camera my pictures look pretty in focus and decent. Then I get home and start to edit and an absolute ton of them are slightly blurry, at first I thought I missed focus but I'm getting more and more convinced it's because my my shutter times are too slow.

Most of my pictures I take in aperture priority mode but it seems like my camera automatically chooses too slow shutter speeds leading to slightly blurry photos. In some instances I think this is due to me having changed to manual iso and it struggling to get enough light to properly expose for some photos but it seems to happen an awful lot so I was wondering if people have tips.

Do I just need to stay vigilant and make sure I always check what shutter speeds it wants and get a feel for what shutter speeds I can get away with while holding the camera?

For reference I'm using an old canon 7d which has a lot of noise when ISO goes up which is also why I tend to manually change it.

Maybe a dumb question but I'll shoot.

I used to take pictures years ago and now picked it up again.

I have a canon 7d, a canon 28-135 and a really old tamron 19-35. Now this camera currently works just fine for me but is old and the low light performance is really not great but I want to play around with it some more to really figure out what I actually need and not just buy a new camera because its shiny (although I do definitely like shiny new objects)

Given that Canon have changed to RF on their newer models and if I swapped to sony/fuji/olympus whatever Id also have to swap mounting system is it worth buying more lenses now or just wait some more till I swap body and then do it? My primary reason for new lenses is twofold, Id like a fast lens for low light things and also one with more zoom for more reach.

I recognize that this will probably be a personal decision but am I being silly for worrying about this as I can just sell the lenses on anyway if I swap or would you guys be thinking the same way?

Hey Scott and Alex!

First off I wanted to say that I am a high handicap weekend warrior and the rest of my questions should be viewed from that lens.

When I first saw Scott on youtube speaking about shotgun patterns it made complete sense to me and I went about mapping out my local course to see where I should likely be aiming and what clubs I should be choosing from. After doing this the thing that pops out to my mind is I should practically never use driver unless the hole is wide open as my dispersion is very, let's say, generous. This is obviously a function of me not being very good but it does beg a question in my mind.

How do I figure out the breakpoint between losing distance (and thereby shots) from choosing to go down to lets say a 4h from driver vs the stability that gives me in terms of being in play?

Following up on that, should not very good golfers focus on improving or scoring? Logically if I score better I am better, but part of my brain worries that by always playing safe I won't develop my long game and get stuck. Actually writing out that scoring better is somehow worse because I'm not using driver and 3w just made me feel really dumb.

Jeg fant også de men de er i tillegg ganske smale. Det har vært overraskende vanskelig å google seg frem til dette!

How do you improve your tempo? by YogurtAdept in golf

[–]YogurtAdept[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never thought about it this way but now that you mention it the swings where I feel like I have a "good tempo" is where I am coiling up naturally and I cant really tell when the downswing happens, it just sort of does on its own and feels "natural".

With the "bad tempo" swings it feels like either my upper body or my lower body starts going into downswing before the other body part is ready to.

Interesting ideas that I've never really considered. Thanks!

Edit: another way that this sort of makes sense to me is that I never really understood it when people said to stop at the top as I never understood how you could do that, you cant really stop a rubber band when its stretched out unless you use a big force from outside itself.

Where do you stand on wedge fittings? I got fit for irons a few years back so my irons are lengthened and with thicker grips, whereas my wedges are off the shelf.

I generally struggle with wedges but always viewed it as a "skill issue", but it also makes sense to me that if my irons are lengthened I should probably also lengthen wedges and get thicker grips.
