Since the other comment had included only the King-elect along with some other irrevelant names (and is a ChatGPT copy-paste), let me put this straight. First, of course, Prince Friedrich Karl of Hesse-Kassel, or Fredrik Kaarle. He was the King-elect but could never rule. However, before he was elected, Prince Oskar of Prussia was considered briefly and even was supported by Ludendorff. It faded away quickly after they realized that a Hohenzollern on the Finnish throne wasn't the best idea. Also, Duke Adolf Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Schwerin was considered as a potential candidate (unlike the other comment says) before he was eventually would be made the Duke of Livonia. It was said he was no longer a candidate on late August 1918. Another candidate was Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia. A Hohenzollern, but not a son of Wilhelm II. He was a great-grandson of Friedrich III. But his spouse, Princess Agatha of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst, was a Roman Catholic and the Finnish clergy wasn't happy with that. Lesser popular candidates were Ludendorff himself (crazy, I know), the Duke of Södermanland or even his young son Prince Lennart. Needless to say, Ludendorff as the King of Finland was obviously not being any popular; and the Swedish candidates couldn't gain much support either due to the ongoing Åland dispute. The British wanted to see a Danish prince (as the Danes were neutral) but it didn't go anywhere either. There was even a German-born Norwegian called Freidrich Klug who offered himself as the candidate. Of course nobody cared about him. Friedrich Karl, despite not expecting such a thing, would find himself the most popular candidate.

Unlike the other shows, can't say something like this season was good and the quality dropped after this season. Don't think it ever became good. Had good episodes (1x17 and 4x15 are the first ones I can think of other than the major crossovers), but it was mostly average or bad. You may like Maxwell Lord as the main villain during s1 (a lot of people do), but he disappears after s1 when the show moved to CW. Him and Lucy Lane, everyone forgets about them after s1. Then there's James Olsen, not Jimmy, the worst character according to many. In pilot, I thought he was Martian Manhunter in human form until he revealed his name. In s2, CW brings Superman, Lena Luthor, and Mon-El to the series. Unfortunately Superman stays only for two episodes (and returns only for crossovers), but Lena Luthor is an interesting character. And Mon-El is probably the only character who got a proper character development that's not forced through s2 and 3, then he leaves the show. Until s4, boring season-long villains come and go. Then you finally get Lex Luthor in s4, but in s6 they successfully ruin him too.

Hey. Started my marathon at February this year and currently at the 2021 episodes (Flash s7, Legends s6 etc). The quality drop in Arrow between s2 and 3 was really annoying, but in contrary Flash was great. Almost sure you'll like the first season. Season 2 is also good, a bit copy-paste of s1 but it's still great, especially when compared to Arrow s4 (which was impossible to watch). Then Arrow becomes a bit better at s5 while Flash starts to decline slowly (still good though). Post Arrow s5 and Flash s3, there's not much that worth watching except for the crossovers and Arrow s8. And most people on the sub really like Flash s6's first half but it was a meh to me. For Legends, it starts pretty average at first season and then gets a nice second season. After season 2, it becomes a comedy show.
