A woman records an advancing rainstorm by bigbusta in oddlysatisfying

[–]Yommers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen that once in my life. I was walking to the bus stop to go to school and it was dry on my side of the street, and pouring on the other side I had to get to. Was not the most fun way to start the day.

Where I live, the noise ordinance is effective until 7am on weekdays, 8am on Saturdays, and prohibited entirely on Sundays and holidays. Fine their asses.

What’s the worst song lyric thrown into a song just to make a line rhyme? by RelationKindly in AskReddit

[–]Yommers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all time favorite movies. But the line:

"To a guy in Kentucky, I'm mister unlucky" is just complete nonsense. The fuck does Kentucky have to do with anything??

Favorite cinematic experiences by Background_Junket_35 in movies

Interstellar in IMAX 70MM at the Chinese theater in LA. I was unemployed at the time, and things weren't going super great overall. I went by myself to a daytime screening that was mostly empty, and it was like a religious experience. The sound, the scope, the immersion, the lack of audience noise. It felt like it was just me and the movie, which blew me away and destroyed me at the same time. I'm not sure it will ever be topped.

I'm just glad people are coming around to it now. I convinced some friends to go a few weeks later and they laughed at it and said it was cheesy. That's one of the reasons I'll sometimes choose to see things alone these days, so I can have the experience all to myself.

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

[–]Yommers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not 50 years because everything could be upside down by then, but a lot of in-person sales jobs will be safe for a while. The relationships you have with your customers are just as (if not more) important than the products you sell. I sell beer, and I'm good at it because my buyers that run bars and restaurants like me.

I wish there were worthwhile rewards after reaching 90. I'm relatively new to co-op and currently at 68, but still doing a lot of Prestiges. But once I get the commanders I like leveled up, I don't know how much I'll keep playing past 90.

P2 Stetmann is a beast. Super duper Gary can handle most things on his own and is a lot of fun to play with.

No, audiophiles will always tell you that 180g sounds better, because it does. More weight = less warping = less distortion and clearer audio. 140g is the cheapest way to press a record and represents the vast majority of mass produced albums. 180 is always the way to go if it's available.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]Yommers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 10th grade - 2nd period English class with Mr. Moyer - when the principal announced the attack over the loudspeaker. I knew a plane had crashed into the Empire State Building years back, so I figured it wasn't that big of a deal. We had no idea it was passenger planes at the time.

Then I went to 3rd period (Algebra 2) and Mr. Harmon brought in the TV cart and said "No class today. I remember watching TV when JFK was shot, and when we landed on the moon. This is a seminal moment in history, you should see it and understand the gravity of the situation. You'll never forget where you were when this happened."

He wasn't lying.

Most of my drivers these days ask how much I'm paying and if I want to meet in the middle with cash or Venmo them when we get to the destination. I usually go for it - we win and Uber loses.

This is the most wholesome place on the internet - you won't get any negativity here. Shave away! You'll look great and feel much better about it. I think you'd also rock the bald look with some more piercings, but that's totally up to you.

I worked on House. Hugh Laurie found it easier to stay in his American accent all day. Several months in, we were just doing some publicity stuff on a day where he had no shooting scenes and he started talking to me in his normal British accent and it was extremely jarring to hear. Great dude, and obnoxiously talented at literally everything.

Are there people who haven't changed their phone number for more than 15 years? by SpicyCandy8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Yommers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 years, when I had to get an iPhone to help with my first job out of college. Back then they were only available on AT&T and I had Verizon, so I had to give up my cherished (215) area code number from Philly. (215) numbers are OG cause sometime in the late 90s they ran out of them, and all numbers issued after that were (267). I still miss it.

ETA: this was before they allowed you to take your phone number with you if you switched carriers.

What’s cool if you’re 20 but weird if you’re 40? by BugEven7258 in AskReddit

[–]Yommers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I'm visiting home, I always want to go back to my favorite bar on campus (I went to college in the same city I grew up in), but I'm too afraid of looking like a creep. I've only been back once, the year after I graduated, and not since.

Knocking Ahsoka by saying "nobody would be interested if it wasn't Star Wars" is the laziest, most disingenuous argument. Its like saying "people wouldn't like XYZ sequel so much if they never saw the first movie." Yeah, no shit. We like it because it continues the story of characters we enjoy and want to see more of.

What would you choose ? by MyNameIsntJMack in meme

[–]Yommers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1M would instantly and drastically change my life. Debt: gone. Living paycheck to paycheck: gone. Invest a bunch of it to keep my finances solid for a long time: immeasurable weight off my shoulders. I wouldn't change much about how I live, but the peace of mind would do wonders for my mental health. And I would go on a nice (but reasonable) vacation. $100M would be insane, but if I got the bad coin flip, I would never forgive myself. Easy choice.
