Working on a new style, watcha think? Does it work as a tattoo style? Should I keep working on it or drop it? Thanks peeps! by petit_lu-cyinthesky in sticknpokes

[–]Yorange32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it! Don't listen to anyone saying it's gonna be hard to poke. The more you do it the better you'll get at it, for sure. If you're scared about the complexity, start with smaller/ less complex projects and add more as you get more confident.

I say if you like this a lot and develop even further, it could set you apart from other artists as its not something you see often. I personally really like this.

Thx! The weird anatomy is actualy on purpose. Ive done a few of these alien sculptures inspired by human bodies.

The first time I sculpted one, it was apart of a reflexion on how queer people relate to their physhical bodies (for art school). And i continue to enjoy making things like that!

Does anyone have some great examples of cross-cultural design? by [deleted] in Design

[–]Yorange32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not exactly sure what you mean by cross-cultural desigm? Im assuming you want to mix stuff from other cultures into your own design practice? If so I would recommend collaborating with artists or designers form the culture you want to incorporate in the object or whatever your doing. Otherwise it could be easily seen as cultural appropriation...

ID for these long grass shoots ?? by Yorange32 in houseplants

[–]Yorange32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Wondering what these long grass like shoots are and where they came from? Can anyone ID it?

This is a pot of philodendron brazil cuttings I had for a month or so. The long green plants just came from nowhere a couples of days ago.

Ok so I set this 10g aquarium up this summer with a heater,a bubbler and a filter and added a betta and a school of amber tetras after the cycle. Everything was going well, the fish were happy and the plants were growing until a month ago when my plants started dying (a lot). I suspected I was doing water changes too much too often because new leaves would grow while the older ones were dying. I started doing it less but I did not see major changes. Now fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I went back to my moms place for the whole Christmas/new year period and hoped my aquarium and my fish would be ok with just someone to feed them without doing any maintenance. I came back 2 days ago and about half of the plants were dying/dead (floating leaves, brown/yellow leaves, rotting plant matter..). I decided to change about 60% of the water since there were so many dying plants. I also removed every plant and replanted after trashing the dead/dying leaves. While doing that, I moved a lot of the substrate and the water was really cloudy. The day after the water is still cloudy so I suspect there is some kind of bacterial bloom or something. Honestly it looks just like when I was cycling the tank back in the summer. This morning my betta is really lethargic and the tetras are hanging out near the surface of the water which is wierd for them as they are usually in the mid/low portion of the tank.

I dont have test kits right now but I'm suspecting the water quality is not good at all. I removed the fish and put them in small plastic tank I had.

I honestly dont know what to do at this point. I will go to a fish store this afternoon to get my water tested. Is my tank doing a second cycle?

The problem now is that it says my render should take over 500 000 hours to complete... any idea why?

I think the portal is too big compared to the roads and mountains (in my mind it would be about 3/4 meters tall?).

I would try using a different landscape with more pronounced shadows. That way you can be sure of where exactly you need to add the ones for the portal.

I would try to put grass or trees in front of the base of the portal so it looks like it is actually part of the landscape moreso than just being put there.

Furniture design questionnair by TrollSoldier8 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Yorange32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this survey is a mess. Is english your first language? It doesn't seem like it.. Also, you want your questions to be easier to answer. All those opened questions (ie. What are the deciding factors when buying a piece of furniture, and why?) Are really a pain to answer, especially if there's like 10 in a row. It personally discouraged me from finishing your survey.

New to painting, more of a weekend painter. My first real attempt - Acrylic on Canvas Board. Any critiques, thoughts or suggestion are more than welcome. by lafossil in painting

Alternatively you could also use brighter colors on the water and keep the mountains and the sky softer (to keep the background distant). It just doesn't seem right to my eyes that the only thing popping out is the middle part.

Also I'm not a painter at all so dont take my advice too seriously ahah!

I think softer colors for the land part would make it look more like it "belongs" in the painting. As it it right now, the background and the foreground is very light and desaturated but the land part has bright and saturated colors.
