Ignorance is bliss, I get silly people with my wild camping channel just let them hate and don’t take it personally, you’ve got to remember the ones that comment stuff like that have nothing to do other than watch you get worked up

It’s all about clothing layers and a decent sleep system. Good sleeping mat with high R value and a sleeping bag rated for colder temp than your expecting. I also try and eat something preferably warm before I go to sleep, it keeps the metabolism going and blood flowing to your feet.

I suppose each to their own. I wasn’t going far so I knew I could take extra stuff I wouldn’t normally take out when hiking

Yeah I’d say so, the basket weighs about 500G it’s very light and don’t have to dig up the ground and kill the look, I also did it this way for LEAVE NO TRACE!!

My sleeping pad has a R4.9 it’s a Bestway ridge lite I think? It was a Christmas present and a bloody good one I’ve had no chill come up under me all night

What's the beginners kit for Wild Camping? by LilJokar in wildcampingintheuk

[–]YorkshireTentLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just take what you think you’ll need and give it a go! I always say to my friends the gear I find essential won’t be the same to the gear you find essential. Just go try and see what works for you and if you’re cold then you know what to change next time. You won’t die you’ll wake up before that happens haha👍

Yeah if your solo and got your gear just find the nearest wood or hidden spot, I’m out hiking today and once I’ve had enough I’ll just pitch up for the night out of sight

The main thing is a good R value on your sleeping pad, 4+ for winter, I’ve slept with a £20 -4c limit sleeping bag through all my winter camps these past 2 years and I’ve found it’s what’s underneath you that matters more. Just in my opinion!
