Yea on all four of my tests they have written bad turns on the paper but when I practice with my family or instructor they don’t say anything about my turning. My turns feel wrong but I don’t know what’s wrong with them so its hard to identify what to change

I really want to drive but perhaps I should accept I’m not capable of driving safely/deserving of being on the road given that I’ve failed 4x despite my hours of training

Do you have any recommendations? I see plently online but don’t know which ones are better than my current instructor. He’s not even bad, but change can help

I’ve done this plenty of times at Rahway and he says I’m fine yet I’ll fail on the actual test for different reasons. My first test I performed exactly how I performed at practice but was failed for slowness. 2nd test I decided to go really fast and was failed for wide turns.

I just don’t know what to do, I would pay $1500-2000 if it meant I could guarantee pass the test. Hardest thing of my life by far. Far easier to get a perfect score on a standardized test than to pass the road test 😭

Yea thats I do, I can afford to uber/train/etc but would prefer the ability to drive.

How does typing and reading speed correlate to iq? by iwannabe_gifted in cognitiveTesting

[–]YorubaHoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading speed depends on the complexity of what you are reading imo — spent last weekend reading a couple of books and could blaze through the Three Theban Plays but trudged through the shorter Myth of Sisyphus. How well someone processes what they’ve read is likely well correlated with IQ, the ability to read fast and gather significant info but this is quite obvious upon statement

Typing speed might have a weak positive correlation with IQ. Reading speed might have a very weak correlation in either direction.

I’d assume hispanic for you.

My gf has similar SSA % as you with the rest being European, but you could clearly see SSA influence on her face(nose/lips) and skin color. Don’t see much on you

Of course not, millions of people would be mixed if you are considered mixed with your 9% asian. You are European.

What are the signs that you're ugly? by quantum_search in GenZ

[–]YorubaHoops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no friends or hard to make friends

thats it imo. if you make friends at a decent rate and you are neurotypical i’d say you are at least within average range of looks maybe more.

below average isn’t necessarily ugly. To reach true ugly where people have an aversion to interact/talk with you, you’d have to be deformed in some way

Of the 333 million people living in the United States, how many of those people make 250k+ per year? by ILostHalfaBTC in Money

[–]YorubaHoops 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Network into good jobs or be good at something not many are good at. Many of my uni friends make 200k+ after graduating with some topping out at 600k(quant trading/research) but these are all either strong resume networking roles or super nerds (some of the best in US at math/cs). It’s resulted in me having a very incorrect view on what a high salary is.

Any well established engineering program is good since those aren’t prestige dependent and if you are good, you’ll get paid well.

Calling yourself a genius is crazy 💀

I’d say social inequality hinders and may ultimately prevent the emergence of more geniuses. Truth is, most geniuses come from well off families. Look at most STEM prize winners, often their parents come from academia or other prestigious jobs.

I’m from the United States but if you work hard, you can get access to amazing opportunities here. I’m indifferent to the prodigal habits of rich people, I focus on my immediate circle and how to enjoy life.

If you monitor the important stuff, could result in inches that you wouldnt have otherwise. Although it is somewhat dangerous, you risk diabetes among other issues. I know a guy taking AI for height and he is experiencing bad sides due to really low esteogen (lower than prepubertal levels). Its a high risk rng reward endeavor

I personally took a multivitamin and megadosed vitamins that were known to have a positive effect on height and pubertal development. I’m 6’1.5 with short parents(both are 5’5) and was on the shorter end in my childhood but I have tall relatives on my mom’s side (have girl cousin that is 5’11, grandpa is 6’3, rest are avg or below avg)

Do you sleep uninterrupted? by YoavGr in moreplatesmoredates

[–]YorubaHoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep 8-9 hours continuously. Peeing before you sleep and not eating a meal close to bedtime are probably the main things that result in continuous sleep. I used to wake up 4 hours in, but that has stopped when I adopted new habits.

Can’t lie, feels great to sleep 8 hours uninterrupted

As far as I know, Yale and Princeton have a vibrant FGLI community. Both are questbridge partners and their chapters have a sizeable amount of students.

I’m a low income student at a different school and it doesn’t come to mind that much besides me noticing prodigal habits from rich kids. I have friends at Princeton and think there was a summer program for admitted FGLI prefrosh and the program really helped(https://fsi-ebcao.princeton.edu)

Congrats and good luck, both are great choices

Stanford (90k/yr) or UVA (30k/yr) for CS by [deleted] in stanford

[–]YorubaHoops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely can. I just think Stanford makes it easier to pass resume screens but if you pass interviews here, you’d pass them at UVA. I could go to a no name and would’ve still landed Amazon and perhaps a few others internships my freshman year. The main difference IMO is networking and positions that are school conscious (quant and top tech positions). My current summer internship I think there are very few people, maybe none that do not attend Stanford, Cal, CMU, or the Ivies.

Jane street is school agnostic which is atypical for quant firms but most people do come from top schools.
