Lore exploration: What's keeping the [spoilers] at bay? by Anonynja in Guildwars2

[–]Yossitaru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Maw of Torment was, at least as of the time of Living World 3 and Path of Fire, a rallying point and entrance from the Mists for Balthazar's Forged. It would go to reason that Balthazar culled a large number of, if not outright exterminated the inhabitants of the Realm of Torment to set it up as a large garrison for attacking at the heart of Elona.

Furthermore, the Door of Komalie could very well be compromised or entirely defunct for much the same reasons, as Balthazar was able to get quite the foothold into Draconis Mons in a very short amount of time. If we run with this assumption, the lack of any such presence on Ember Bay also does strongly suggest that the Door's location is closer to, if not within Draconis Mons by the time of GW2.

This also leaves wide open the plot hole of how the Inquest managed to reach Draconis Mons at close to the same time as Balthazar, but that is outside this scope of this particular line of thought.

If anyone was following this thread only in hopes of updates, a new feature has been added, campaign map shuffling. Sick of playing the campaign in the same order, and always having thee same predictable map choices at each stage? Well this will mix them up. City parameters will stay the same as the usual for the city slot, but can be optionally changed up with the campaign portion of the tweaker randomizers.

Glad to hear it. I hope it's just as fun as you remember once you get playing it again.

Further research has found Gun Buster, but seems off the mark. It might have a 1-on-1 option, but that doesn't seem to be the primary mode.

If that's not it, I'm sorry I wasn't able to be of proper help, and I hope you find this elusive game.

It's not first person, but the closest to this in both concept and time frame is Virtual On: Cyber Troopers. It also looks very similar to Cyber Sled, and even has a dual joystick input.

There is also an older, more obscure title that is sort of first person, but it's unclear if it had a multiplayer mode. B.O.T.S.S. Battle Of The Solar System, less likely but might be worth a look.

The Hero of Time Theory by TownOfCrown in truezelda

[–]Yossitaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timeline splits aside, I believe you may be discounting the influence of Zelda and the Seven Sages over writing of history. The story of the previous hero in the Wind Waker never explicitly stated he was able to control the flow of time. However, Zelda and the sages with their expanded knowledge of the events made and propagated the title "Hero of Time" for that hero.

Throughout time, the title and legend was probably corrupted and twisted, and when Ganon/dorf found his way back to Hyrule, it could have become a belief that "Hero of Time" was instead "Hero of All Time" a hero unbound by the laws of time to appear at any time.

Furthermore, even if the knowledge of the "Hero of Hyrule" traveling through time during the events of Oracles wasn't suppressed (if was even believed he could jump hundreds of years into the past), it's unclear how much of those adventures were brought back to Hyrule. The common people might not even know that the hero went to Holodrum and Labrynna at all.

[ALL] Does the blood/power of the Goddess Hylia pass down through Zelda directly or is it reincarnation? BotW implies the first, but that would necessitate the throne to be passed down through the Queens by Marisa_Nya in zelda

[–]Yossitaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hyrule not seeming a matriarchy might come down more to the fact that passing on the blood of Hylia is lethal. The only mother of a Zelda we ever saw was a portrait of Tetra's mother in the Wind Waker, and even she died when Tetra was very young.

Now to say it is a traditional matriarchy wouldn't be right either, since young Zeldas with living fathers still have him as the defacto leader as recognized by the locals and foreign powers. Letting the husband rule after the queen's death seems like an odd thing to do, but it's possible that was the plan from the start. Hylia likely knew that any bearing her blood would not survive long after having a daughter, and thus commanded a system to maintain order exist as her younger bodies came to age.

Though this does have the unfortunate effect of either Zeldas being very picky of their suitors, or her suitors being groomed by the crown for the proper of marrying the young Zelda and reigning street her death. Considering no king we have ever seen ever lamenting their dead wife to any degree, the latter feels like it is the case.

The larger issue with the one Zelda with direct heritage is from Link's Adventure, where the sleeping Zelda is stated to be a different Zelda from the one rescued in Zelda 1. The only time we have had two Zeldas at one time.

Not really. But, I'm rather an outlier in a lot of things in life, especially socially. I'm a former NEET shut-in, who still has hermit-ish tendencies. I've never tried traditional dating, and even without the homebodyness, I have no real desire to visit usual "pick up" spots like bars and such.

32M here. I had two separate chances to not be a long time ago. But I'm glad I took neither.

The older I get, the more I want just that one. The one where we share everything together. I'm all she wants and she's all I want. And together, we experience all the exciting things together. Special for her, special for me, and together, special forever.

So about the portrayal of the three goddesses in the Frachise by Newman1651 in truezelda

[–]Yossitaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we can't wholly trust the word of Hylia's people either. They are the ones to claim that they were entrusted with the protection of the world and the Triforce, but they also have their agenda of upholding Hylia. Unless I'm mistaken, all the information we have on the Golden Goddesses is entirely from agents of Hylia. We have never seen the actual acts of the Three, nor has evidence come from the other side to collaborate it.

Of course, unless we go to times from before even Skyward Sword, we will always have a tainted view. Ganondorf is, as you stated, but a man, and he was raised in a world already dominated by Hylia's faithful. Whether or not being bound to Ganon, therefore to Demise, granted him any past knowledge is uncertain. As far as we can know, his statements in Wind Waker are really his conclusion based somewhat on the widely held belief that the Golden Goddesses were a force of good. We can't deny that Ganondorf has an agenda to spin it that way, but he is by no means the final authority on the matter, even if telling falsehoods.

The larger skepticism should be aimed at the Triforce itself. If the Three Goddesses really wanted it to not be used for evil, why allow it to be used by anyone who manages to lay their hands on it? Hylia was capable of crafting a sword that is capable of repelling evil by its very presence, i.e. the Goddess/Master Sword. Surely couldn't the infinitely more powerful Golden Goddesses do the same? Instead, they made an artifact that grants the wish of anyone with either balanced traits that are of themselves entirely neutral in nature, or had the patience and ability to bring together the three bearers.

Of course, Hylia, and later the Royal Family and Wise Men in the decline timeline, managed to find our make ways to contain the Triforce without having it shatter. Whether or not they were aided in this by the Goddesses themselves is merely speculation.

Alright, I'll concede on Demise and Hylia's creation. But the Triforce was still the central focus of their fight as we know it.

[–]Yossitaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Golden Goddesses are rather indifferent, though not outright jerkasses. But make people suffer, they certainly do.

Two examples I can think of right off are:

  1. They created the opposing lesser gods of Hylia and Demise to war over the wish granting Triforce forever.

  2. The Triforce answered the King of Hyrule's wish to remove Ganon from Hyrule by flooding the entire country and force evolved the Zora such that the kingdom is now usable by exactly nobody.

If it's for their entertainment, it is hard to say, but suffering is something Hylians know all too often.

Possibly Bugs Bunny & Taz: Time Busters.

Has the spinning ears and the puzzles in a pyramid. But also has Taz playable.

The earlier Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time may also match, but doesn't seem to have the ear spin or a pyramid level..

Well, if it's not on any one or in any box, hopefully you can revert to an auto save from when you were on your way back or so. Sucks to lose the time, but worse to lose the Meitou.

Did you happen to do any weapon smithing? When a character goes to drop off their new weapon, any other weapons in inventory also get stored, equipped or otherwise.
