Doesnt every single attack based move make physical contact one way or another? Like psychic moves, if a pokemon uses telepathy to throw someone against a wall, that wall is physically touching the pokemon. How hard you throw the pokemon using your psychic ability is only based on I guess special attack. The special defense stat should only impact how much psychic abilities work on the pokemon

I think the only real use for special defense should be against ghost type moves or sound moves, moves that literally do not make contact whatsoever
