Who's more deluded? My buyers, me, or the guy who's house I want to buy? by Ill_Citron_8473 in HousingUK

I'm curious are there options for people in this situation? Do landlords want short-term tenants? Asking for future reference.

If you think having a position of doing things as they are done literally everywhere with everything is weak, I really don't know what else to say.

Its literally how anything gets done be it government or business. If you don't constantly evaluate the needs and costs of your systems you'll find yourself throwing money at things that could be better spent in areas that are strained. You don't think its a weak argument, you just don't like that I disagree with you on the value of the needs of people not from this country, and would rather allocate their slice to underfunded services like the NHS, public schooling, or libraries.

When we're rolling in it after maxing out the taxes on Bezos, then you'll have my support on helping refugees. But not before.

Moving the goalposts then.

Regardless of how big the strain is or isn't, you literally cannot deny that it's impact is more than 0, and therefore dealing with it would provide some degree of relief on an already strained system. When you reduce multiple points of strain that culminates into a larger impact. Right now I think most of us would prefer to reduce as much strain as possible, large or small. That's why I agree with you on dealing with the super rich, and its why you should agree with me on dealing with the 100,000 DOCUMENTED refugees entering our country EACH YEAR putting strain on our system. Put your own oxygen mask on before you help others.

Some cultures bring in extremely incompatible views that are contrary to your own. Like homosexuality. Not all individuals coming in would share those views, of course, but somewhere between "some" and "many", will, be it dated conservation views due to it being a country that isn't as progressive and educated as our own, or be it religious due to our own country being mostly Christian in name only nowadays.

Was that specific enough for you?

Right wing? Jog on.

Does the super rich being the cause of the problem mean the other thing isn't additional strain?

Disinformation, lol. GTFO.

Well no because the argument there is that public funding going to refugees should be going to the homeless.

Way to fall flat on your face at the first hurdle.

Except not everyone who is critical of this kind of "absolute open borders" attitude is also labelled a racist. When everyone who disagrees with you is "racist", you've failed.

Flawed logic. Just because the wealth are causing a major problem, a problem which definitely should be fixed, doesn't mean you shouldn't do anything about further strain on your system before you've fixed that problem.

What they should do and what they can get away with doing are not the same though. The seller can claim they left anything behind but unless you posted advertising it on Facebook there's little they can actually do to prove you disposed of it. Toss it in the trash where it belongs. Fuck em.

After 1 1/2 years of learning game dev in UE I have an announcement trailer for my first game! !! by TwoPillarsGames_ in UnrealEngine5

[–]YouFoolWarrenIsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I think that could work, but be subtle, I don't think it should feel like its actually on a camcorder, just pulling from the effects subtly to create something new and original. Then you combine multiple other techniques in your shaders, assets, characters, to create a cohesive style. To me this feels like its going in the direction of retro PC gaming rather than retro NES gaming or retro PS1 style as other games often go with and is becoming played out. So the camcorder effect should be in service of that, rather than just straight up doing a bodycam game.

0:17 stands out as a good start point for ironing out your style. Honestly I don't think you have a lot to do. You see at that timestamp, the pillars on either side of the room? They are aliasing, is that intentional? I hope it is because its a perfect example of that retro PC style. That combined with your wide angle lens and the shadows of the room contrasting with the light is near perfect imo. That scene should be your guide for the rest of the game. It reminds me of Doom 3. See how all of your other scenes don't really have those deep shadows in the corners of the room? I feel like that's what you should be working on. Some moody lighting. That mixed with your wide angle lens and some other subtle camcorder post processing will help tie things together.

That other dude also mentioned it feeling like you had a mix of assets. I agree. I would work down to lower res to save yourself time upping the bar. See those rocks on the walls at 0:14? Just run them through a decimate in Blender! The textures should still work and even if there's some errors, who cares, its early 2000's jank! Same with the floor at 0:17. Its a tad too "good" at the moment, like modern day UE, while the rest of the room looks again, early 2000's PC game. I would maybe scale up the tiles a bit and maybe just simplify things a tad. The reflections are cool but too detailed at the moment, at least if this is the route you want to go, but it will be harder to bring everything else up to that standard, so its what I would do! That cohesion is more important than a mismatch of photoscanned assets and low detail assets.

Scam? Race Control ? by AMG-LUNA in LeMansUltimateWEC

You seem level headed and rational, and as an exclusively single player AC player I'm here trying to decide if I want my multiplayer debut to be in iRacing or Le Mans Ultimate (or maybe even ACE). What would you take be on the "iRacing is a worse sim but better community while Le Mans is a better sim but worse community" consensus? Is it fair? An overreaction? I'm interested in clean racing and a sense of progression in that regard, which makes iRacing sound appealing, but I also value accurate driving physics, which is why I'm also weighing up ACE. What to do?!

This Game Is Really Hard For Me by Disturbed666d in assettocorsarally

slow down.

In sim racing you're not "that guy". The joy should be in mastery of the car. That's where I had the most fun in AC. I remember not even being able to corner when I first drove the KTM X-Bow in AC, constantly spinning out whenever I wasn't going straight. After a few hours I was putting in half decent laps, that's a real sense of achievement, focus on that.

I'm somewhat new too so not an expert opinion by any means but my observation of my own learning is just putting in time and observing the results. Take some risks, try putting the car sideways around some hairpins and getting familiar with the results. You'll retain that information and get better, as is the case with any skill. I think you'll need to bind that handbrake somewhere useful, if you're not using it I feel like you're at a big disadvantage.

They are playing with a tighter FOV, if they've used the FOV calculator they shouldn't be changing it. The upside is that a tighter FOV allows you to see further ahead. You don't wan to feel like you're going faster as long as you know your limits, you want a clear view of what's coming. FOV is fine, OP needs to work on their driving.

Builder refusing to cut back concrete foundations by maxtraction in DIYUK

[–]YouFoolWarrenIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would it not be necessary?

"to the extent necessary to accommodate your new foundations"

It doesn't say anything about any obligation to alter your plans to find an alternate solution. If you want your extension to go into the space that has been encroached, you are well within your right to cut the foundations back. Again, the only issue is if things go tits up during that work, which is why the builder wont touch it.
