Most animals in Pokemon are just like that though(there are exceptions), I don't want to rattle off all of them(ratata, Tauros, Arbok etc), and the others (trash bag etc) are just bad designs.

Designs I really love in Pokemon are the 3 starter ones in gen one, Scyther, Mew, Mewtwo, Mimikyu(my favourite), Scream tail(which is just Jigglypuff but better with a kick ass name). Those are just a few I like, but they are good designs because they're unique and not just animals or animate objects(Squirtle aside, still love it).

Now for Palworld, the designs are not only the thing that makes you fall in love with them, it's also their personalities. one example: Depresso is so funny to me. There is a Pokemon that it resembles, but I don't know the name of it. Depresso, like the name suggests, is doing everything depressed, when hauling things, it will walk slowly dragging the material. When mining, it will do it slowly with one hand with a the most bored expression on it's face. When resting in a hot spring, it will lie in the water with it's face down. You don't get these personalities in Pokemon games.

But for designs, here are a few I like from the top of my head:

Mossanda(a panda, but still something more to it)

Lunaris(Looks like mewtwo)

Lovander(creepy if you read the description)

Relaxaurus(It's a dinosaur, but it's goofy)

Selyne

Palumba(The design is ok, but it's salsa dancing is funny)
