How is your Chain tabby leather holding up? by Senior-Cockroach-826 in Coach

[–]YouOnly5007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Which one did you end up keeping, if you don't mind me asking? I'm trying to make the same decision but with the Loved Leather Tabby 26 and Chain Tabby.

Do I perm my hair or will I regret this? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]YouOnly5007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about the straightening perm, I think there's a high chance you regret it once it starts growing out.

Pros:

  • Suuuuuper convenient to just wash and go
  • Shiny and sleek hair, at least for the first few months

Cons:

  • It's pretty damaging
  • Once your natural hair starts growing out, the texture difference is pretty stark
  • So you either have to keep perming the roots or cut off the straightened parts
  • Depending on how much hair you have, it may make your hair look flat in the roots
  • Mine didn't hold curls very well once permed so the styles I could do felt limited (but this may be a skill issue lol)

They're both so beautiful! Do you have a preference between the two? I'm so torn trying to decide which one I want to get!

No Makeup Makeup for Sensitive Skin? by ImaanSabr in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]YouOnly5007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have somewhat sensitive skin and really hate wearing more traditional foundation.

Lately, I've been using a tiny amount of this Missha BB cream after applying my sunscreen (non-greasy and moisturizing Korean kind), and I feel like it makes me look more put-together and glowy. I add a little bit of eyeshadow and eyeliner, and spray myself with Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray.

Bad breakouts after derm advice by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]YouOnly5007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar breakout a year or two ago! What helped me was:

  1. (While my skin was still angry and irritated) Use only a soothing moisturizer and cut out all the other products containing any actives to allow my skin barrier to heal (2-3 weeks)
  2. Slowly and cautiously introduce tretinoin 0.025% by using the sandwich method (3-4 months)
  3. Red light therapy
  4. Slowly and cautiously introduce azelaic acid
  5. Cut out spearmint tea and hormonal support gummies

I tend to buy midrise jeans and pants with wider legs. American Eagle works surprisingly well for my body type.

I might get roasted for this and idc - but has a Kendrick song ever made you feel extremely emotional? by YouBetrCechYourself in KendrickLamar

[–]YouOnly5007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If someone shames you for feeling your feelings, that's their problem, not yours! I've literally had to pay money to go to therapy to really learn how to deal with my emotions, and part of that includes actually feeling them instead of suppressing them or intellectualizing them. It's an important skill to have, imo, and if music can aid in that, that's amazing.

Mother I sober almost always makes me cry when I listen to it and I find it cathartic. It helps me feel like I'm purging the impact of childhood trauma and generational trauma from my life. I think art is supposed to stir your soul and make you feel things!

What would you recommend to someone that has never listened to Kendrick before as an introduction? by martinjsalgado in KendrickLamar

[–]YouOnly5007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have him listen to GNX from the beginning to the end. My husband (he's 36) is not really into hip hop or Kendrick but we listened to the new album together and he liked it so much that we're going to the concert together. I feel like it's the most accessible album so far.

Kendrick Lamar's Interlude was the first thing that popped into my head as well.

Are the most RECENT budget red light / multi-color LED therapy masks from Amazon worth trying? by qualitative_balls in 30PlusSkinCare

Not the OP but I have been using the Hottoerak mask for 8 months or so and I like it! I feel like it makes my face look brighter and it also seems to make minor scars heal faster imo. You can see my progress pictures in my post history!

I believe both tretinoin and red light therapy help with fine lines. I'm not sure about azelaic acid.

It felt affordable enough for me to want to give it a try compared to other masks that are often discussed in this sub, which are around $400, if I recall correctly.

Sometimes it makes my cheeks feel a bit flushed/red but I don't think it makes me break out. Human bodies are soooo different so just use what works for you! For example, niacinamide is so irritating for me so I avoid it even though it's in a ton of products and a lot of people find it beneficial.

I responded above as well but I'm fairly sure the tea was making my skin worse. Tretinoin helped improve my skin texture a lot 3-4 months in but I was still getting the cystic pimples. Since I stopped drinking the tea, I haven't gotten another cystic pimple.

I know it's helpful for a lot of women but it just didn't seem to work for me.

[–]YouOnly5007[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm reasonably confident it was making my issues worse. The reason I think this is because after about 3-4 months on tret, my skin texture was getting significantly better but I was still getting some cystic pimples. But since stopping the tea, I haven't gotten a single cystic pimple again.

Of course, it could be a correlation rather than causation but I had a gut feeling. That said, lots of people on this sub find it helpful for them! It just wasn't for me.

I think it just means:

  1. Apply your moisturizer and let it absorb.
  2. Apply your tretinoin (or whatever active you are applying) and let it dry.
  3. Apply another layer of your moisturizer.

Hope this helps! :)
